Keep food away from flies. These insects are much more dangerous than we think

A fly that sat on food even for a moment can seriously harm us. These common insects can transmit serious infectious diseases such as cholera, dysentery and typhus. Flies, especially bothersome in summer, are not only annoying, but much more dangerous than we think.

Flies on food

The average fly carries 200 different types of harmful bacteria. Thanks to the thousands of tiny hairs on the fly’s legs, the bacteria are quickly transferred into food, which, according to Ron Harrison, an entomologist (scientist who studies insects) and expert in pest control, can pose a serious threat to human health, according to The Independent magazine. Flies carry such serious infectious diseases, like hell, dysentery and typhus.

Flies are attracted to sweet substances, overripe fruit, and spilled sweet drinks, as well as spoiled food and feces. The fly often lands on such places, so it is enough for only a moment to sit down on the food that we are to eat, and it will cause a threat.

The flies “vomit” on our food

Flies almost always vomit on the food they land on. As experts argue, this is because Flies are insects that cannot bite, so they throw digestive enzymes into food to dissolve it and then swallow it.

The expert advises: whenever we notice a fly on food, give up eating it at least the part of the food the insect sat on. Let’s cut this part out and throw it away. It will be the safest.
