Kate Middleton talks about postpartum depression

The Duchess is sure: mental health is just as important as physical. And any discomfort after childbirth – bodily or mental – is a reason to seek help.

A series on postpartum depression was recently launched in England. More precisely, getting rid of it: “Break out of depression.” In the original, the series is called “Out of The Blue” – all because in English, the unstable mental state of a woman after childbirth is called Baby Blues. Blues is music about suffering. And here is the suffering associated with the baby.

The series was produced with the support of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. It was represented by the Duchess of Cambridge Catherine herself. Who, as a mother of two children, knows perfectly well what she is talking about.

The first thing the Duchess mentioned was that it is very important for young parents to talk to each other. After all, sometimes an ordinary conversation is enough to make mom feel better, so that she understands what is happening to her, and stops being afraid of it.

– This collection says that taking care of your mental health is vital, especially in the early years of parenting. For me, motherhood has been a rewarding and wonderful experience. Nevertheless, sometimes it was very difficult even for me. I have helpers, and most mothers don’t, ”Kate said.

The Duchess said that it is impossible to prepare one hundred percent to become a mother. Motherhood is overflowing with emotions: it is joy, and exhaustion, and love, and anxiety, mixed in one seething cauldron. Well, for two out of ten women, depression is also added to this cauldron.

– Moments of joy are often clouded by feelings of abandonment and hopelessness. Many women suffer in silence, they are depressed. They are afraid to admit what they feel, they are ashamed of these feelings. Women are afraid that they will be thought of as if they are not coping, – continued Kate Middleton.

The mother of two has not forgotten about the syndrome of the “ideal parent”: women are trying so hard to cope with all the difficulties themselves, and even pretend to be happy about it.

– Motherhood is a wonderful thing. But stress and tension also exist. And there is nothing wrong with that. Asking for help does not mean being weak, Kate is sure. – If you catch a cold, then go to the doctor. It should be the same with mental health.
