Karate for children: classes, training, when to give the child, age, years
Karate is one of the oldest martial arts that originated in Japan. He has not only a defensive fighting technique, but also an offensive one. The arsenal of martial arts includes strikes, throws, painful grips and the defeat of vital and painful parts of the body.
At what age to send a child to training
At home, karate training begins early, usually even before school, from about the age of five. In Russia, this is also practiced, but the kids are not always ready mentally for such lessons.
You can give the child later, depending on his physical development and spiritual mood. It is better to bring him to the section when he really wants it. It will be optimal to start training at the age of 7-8. At this time, the future athlete will already get used to the school team, and it will be much easier for him to adapt to the group of the sports section.
For training, you will need a special uniform made of light cotton – a kimono. It should be selected strictly according to the size and height of the child. Trainers usually require the purchase of foot pads and special gloves. Also, before reaching the age of 9, it is recommended to use protective elements of equipment – a vest, helmet, protection for the groin area.
Classes are usually held for 1,5-2 hours, depending on the preparation of students in the group. They consist of three parts – performing training exercises, practicing techniques and strikes, sparring with the opponent.
All martial arts, including karate, are based on their philosophy. They bring up a strong spirit in the child, the ability to respect others and their rival. They develop logical thinking, the ability to feel and understand the tactics and further movement of the enemy.
Why karate classes are useful for children
The child will be comfortable in the section if he already possesses a number of qualities – he is disciplined, knows how to listen to the teacher and follow his instructions, is able to concentrate on a specific task and has the patience to complete it. With the help of lessons, these qualities will be strengthened and more and more developed, helping him in sports and in life.
In addition, karate provides the following benefits:
- Forms physical strength, agility, endurance. Little athletes acquire clarity of movement, tone in the body, and good flexibility.
- An integral part of martial arts is spiritual development. Children become balanced and calm, with a strong inner core. This is especially useful for hyperactivity. They learn to concentrate and apply perseverance to achieve their goal.
- Becoming a strong character. The child acquires self-confidence, purposefulness, responsibility. His behavior is adequate, he knows how to control himself.
Students strive for victory, but learn to enjoy achievements and empathize with other people’s ignorance. They understand the price of success – how much effort and patience you need to invest in a business to achieve something. They also know what self-improvement and victories will give them – respect of others and self-realization.
