The plant comes from Northeast Asia, where it has been used in natural medicine for centuries.

The Kamchatka berry is gaining more and more enthusiasts among cultivators. This is due to the fact that this plant is not one of the most demanding. She is used to frosts and changing weather conditions. The Kamchatka berry will adapt to practically any soil. The only exception is wet and clay soils. When putting on haskap berry plantation however, attention should be paid to the type of soil with which you are dealing. Kamchatka berry should not be grown in soils that are too light, sandy and catchment. The Kamchatka berry grows best in soils of IV and V valuation class with a pH of 5,5–6,5.

Kamchatka berries do not have too high climatic requirements. The bushes of this plant are very resistant to low temperatures, they will survive when it cools down to minus 40 degrees Celsius. This means that neither Polish winters nor spring frosts are an obstacle to the cultivation of haskap berries. To sum up, the Kamchatka berry is best grown in a fertile and sunny place.

Kamchatka berry bushes are planted in spring or autumn. Before planting, it is worth fertilizing the soil with natural fertilizer, compost or manure. It should be noted whether there are weeds in the place chosen for the shrubs. If so, the site should be weeded before planting.

In very dry seasons, the Kamchatka berry can be watered lightly. Usually, however, adult haskap shrubs cope on their own and collect water from rainfall that occurs in our climate. ATTENTION! The fruit of the Kamchatka berry does not ripen as quickly. Therefore, the fruits of this shrub should be picked selectively. Kamchatka berry begins to bear fruit in the second year after planting. Fruiting is more abundant with each passing year. The adult shrub produces about 3 to 4 kg of berries throughout the season.

Kamchatka berry is a shrub that is more and more often found in Polish home gardens.   2. Kamchatka berry Sinigłaska – this is a medium-early variety. The berries of this shrub are large, elongated and cylindrical in shape;
  3. Kamchatka berry Chelyabinka – this is a variety, the berries of this shrub have a pear-shaped shape. They ripen in early June and are covered with an intense blue bloom; 
  4. Kamchatka berry Wołoszebnica – it’s a variety. The fruits of this shrub are dark blue, oval and tasty. They contain a lot of anthocyanin compounds;
  5. Kamchatka berry Atut – this variety comes from Poland. The fruits of this shrub are large, slightly bent, aromatic and sweet;
  6. Kamchatka berry Wojtek – this is another Polish variety. The fruits of this shrub are very tasty. They are used in the preparation of desserts, frozen foods, juices and jams;
  7. Kamchatka berry Zojka – this is another variety from Poland. The fruit of this shrub is considered to be one of the sweetest among berries. They are usually used in processing;
