In Europe, over the centuries, few people have been able to openly talk about the advantages of physical love and the huge role it plays in our lives. However, it was different in some non-European cultures, for example in India, where the Kamasutra, known for over two thousand years, comes from. Today, not only the inhabitants of India, but also many other countries in the world, speak openly about the benefits of sex and eagerly reach for this famous treatise on love. What is the kamasutra actually?
What is the kamasutra?
According to the dictionary of the Polish language, the kamasutra has two meanings. Its first meaning is considered a metaphor for the art of love, making love or ars amandi, which means the art of loving. The latter, by definition, describes the kamasutra as the Hindu art of love. This definition is in line with the origin of the kamasutra.
Well, Kamasutra written with a capital letter is an Indian treatise, the main topic of which is sexuality and sexual behavior. The author of this work, according to all beliefs, is Watsjajana, also known as Vātsyāyana Mallanaga. This sage probably lived between the XNUMXst and XNUMXth centuries AD. So far, it has not been specified exactly when the Kamasutra was written, but it is known that it was not the only known treatise on the art of love at that time.
The Kama Sutra has conducted a comprehensive analysis of sexual intercourse, but the treatise is also a rich source of information on Indian culture. One of the chapters of this dissertation is devoted to prostitution and its role in the society and culture of ancient India.
It is worth mentioning that the Kamasutra is one of the most extensive collections containing sexual positions, skills in physical love, types of sexual relationships, ways and types of caresses or classifications of human behavior in relation to nature.

Kamasutra – Hindu treatise on love
Although many people still associate the kamasutra primarily with complicated sexual positions, the testing of which requires quite a lot of acrobatic skills, the capital letter Kamasutra is primarily a treatise on love from India. This Indian work is in fact something much broader, richer and definitely more useful in everyday life. Contrary to what it might seem, it is a book they can reach for:
• athletic people (mainly familiar with the techniques used in yoga);
• people who have no experience in bed matters;
• people who are just discovering their sexuality;
• elder people;
• experienced lovers;
• people in long-term relationships;
• looking for new experiences;
• single.

The Kamasutra is a philosophical treatise written by Wojstathan probably in the XNUMXnd century BC, which deals with both the art of love itself and many important socio-cultural issues.
Kamasutra – What’s in the Book of Loving?
The Kamasutra as a tract is divided into seven parts that complement each other. These include the following chapters:
• Introduction;
• About unity;
• About fidelity;
• About the wife;
• About other people’s wives;
• O kurtyzanach;
• About love, sex, eroticism and intimacy.
The book of love includes not only descriptions of sophisticated sexual positions, but also recipes for mysterious potions whose main task is to raise the libido, as well as the characteristics of cosmetics useful during the love ritual.
There are also commandments in the treatise on love:
• charms that will keep a lover with you;
• caresses that allow you to create an orgasm without touching;
• ways to bring yourself and your lover to pleasure.

Modern Kamasutra – how is it different from the original?
Due to the fact that the Kamasutra is such an old tract, many people may fear that its instructions and advice may be difficult to apply today. However, nothing could be more wrong. The Kamasutra is the most universal book, and the philosophy of love described in it can be successfully applied today. The sex positions themselves and their descriptions do not really take up much space in this treatise. Apart from them, we can read about many issues related to social behavior, relationships between partners, preparation of a place of sexual intercourse, and finally taking care of our own body and many other issues.
Interestingly, many people try to find information on the Internet about the art of loving. However, this is not an easy task as these are usually pictures combined with a brief instruction that does not really explain the meaning of a given sexual position. For this reason, the best solution is to reach for the original.

Kamasutra and sex and closeness
It probably wouldn’t have been all the hype if the Kamasutra did not actually display the fancy sex positions for which she became famous. True, some of the positions described in it are practically impossible for someone who has not practiced acrobatics or yoga. The latter is of special importance here, because it was also an extremely important field in ancient India. However, it is not worth getting discouraged, because in addition to the complicated positions, the Kamasutra also contains illustrations and descriptions of much simpler positions that can be easily made by partners who are not so physically fit.

Kamasutra – classification of sexual positions
In the classic Kamasutra, four subcategories can be distinguished related to the classification of sexual positions:
• lying positions – in this case, the partner is under the partner. Lovers can look each other in the eye, which favors closeness, but on the other hand, there is only superficial penetration;
• sitting positions – in this case, the penetration is deeper, the lovers are tenderly hugged. Moreover, sexual sitting positions promote a deeper bond between lovers;
• standing positions – much more complicated and difficult to perform, more often preferred by partners due to their increased activity;
• rear positions – very often chosen by partners, because in this case the penetration is very deep. Lack of eye contact means that these are not positions of choice for women. However, the sensations are much stronger than with other sexual positions.

Kamasutra – descriptions of sexual positions
There are dozens of sexual positions in the original play of lovemaking. Some of them can only be chosen by experienced couples who already know some of their limits and know their preferences well.
In the Kama Sutra, the most important thing is closeness.
For this reason, we have decided to cite descriptions of several sexual positions that can make the bond between lovers stronger:
• spider sex position – first a man sits down on the floor. He rests his hands (or elbows) on the floor. A woman sits on his thighs and has to rest her hands on the floor as well. In this position, it is the partner who makes both herself and her partner orgasm;
• Sex position slide – in this position, the partner lies on his back and the partner lies on him. Straddling at first and then joining his legs to slide up and down the man’s body;
• sexual position of a lovebird The man sits on the edge of the bed, and the woman on his thighs with her back to him. The partner caresses the clitoris, breasts and neck of the woman.
The more complicated items include:
• bow sex position – both the woman and the man lie on their backs. The partner spreads his legs so that the partner can retract her pelvis. They both touch each other with their genitals;
• table sex position – this pose requires the man to make a gymnastic sternum. The woman rides him with her back to his face;
• squid sex position The man sits down on the floor with his knees slightly bent. The woman sits on him, looking at his face. Partners lean back. In this position, be careful that the penis does not slip out of the vagina.
Descriptions of sexual positions can be found in the second chapter of the Kama Sutra or the Play About Love.
In the case of most of the sexual positions described in the Kama Sutra, it is important to remember to properly moisturize the intimate parts. For this reason, we recommend a warming lubricant with cinnamon that ignites the senses.

The first Polish Kamasutra, or “The Art of Loving” by Michalina Wisłocka
The “kamasutra or treatise on love” has been present in culture for two thousand years. In Poland, the book was not translated into the native language for a long time. It was done for the first time in 1985 by Krzysztof Byrski. It was thanks to him that the Polish translation gained the subtitle “Treatise on Love”. In 2013, Justyna and Robert Malinowski decided to launch an audiobook on the publishing market.
There are many engravings in modern editions of the Kama Sutra that show different sexual positions. It was similar in the case of “Sztuka kochania” by Michalina Wisłocka, published in 1978. In both books, the need for closeness and deepening the relationship between partners is in the foreground.
