JuneOS: the smart barbecue

JuneOS: the smart barbecue

Weber announced months ago its new SmokeFire grill that uses wood pellets as fuel and connects via Wi-Fi.

The innovative rotisserie will use JuneOS for precise temperature control and step-by-step guided cooking.

This is the first time that June’s technology has been incorporated into a third-party product.

The culinary intelligence of JuneOS on the SmokeFire grill will be a little different than it does on the June Oven.

What novelty does the innovative barbecue offer us?

For starters, the grill is controlled by the Weber Connect app, which works with JuneOS being invisible to the user.

Second, there is no built-in camera to automatically recognize food or the touch screen to control the grill.

Instead, there is a black and white screen on the grille with a circular knob for selecting options.

The features of the weber SmokeFire

The SmokeFire can range from 95º to 315º Celsius, so it can cook on both high and low heat, as well as grill to get a hot browning. In addition to providing guidance on meal preparation and setup, the Weber Connect app also allows users to set precise temperatures.

Just like when using a June oven, the SmokeFire will send an alert to the mobile app based on internal food temperatures to give broilers an estimated time on when their food will be done.

If you have a grill in your restaurant and you do not want to be aware of it all the time, it is an excellent option for you to optimize your time and the food is always at the ideal doneness.

Convert your restaurant’s oven or barbecue with a new gadget

If you already have ovens or barbecues and do not want to spend on a new one, no matter how modern it is, you can use the Weber Connect Smart Grilling Hub, a connected device that allows you to bring the smart functionality to the grill you already have.

The Hub is a small device that fits outside of any grill. There are four inputs on the Hub that you can use for food probes and to monitor the internal temperature of what you are cooking. There is also an external thermometer to measure the ambient cooking temperature inside the grill.

The Hub displays these readings wirelessly and communicates them back to the Weber Connect mobile app, powered by the JuneOS operating system, which provides guidance on setting up the grill, when to turn food over, and when to remove it from the grill.

If it works as advertised, the Weber Smart Grilling Hub It will be able to turn your existing grill into a smart one when it comes out in these first weeks of 2020.

While that’s less expensive than grill, the Hub won’t be able to do all the things it does, like automatically adjust the temperature or stay at a precise temperature.

Either device will help you better control your food and not constantly check your food.
