Juice Day in Russia

Juice day – a popular, albeit young, holiday, which is already celebrated in different countries of the world. Its main goal is to popularize juice as a healthy and tasty drink and an important part of the daily human diet. The symbol of the holiday is an exotic fruit, divided into three equal parts, which illustrate the diversity of all the juices in the world.

According to experts in proper nutrition, juices are one of the most affordable ways of obtaining vitamins, macro- and microelements, organic substances for a modern person. And they must be included in the diet of every person, especially in the autumn-winter period, when the body most of all needs vitamin support. Plus they are easy to consume and digest quickly.

The World Health Organization (WHO), in its Global Strategy on Diet, Physical Activity and Health, recommends eating 400 grams of fruits and vegetables daily, of which one fifth can be replaced by a glass of juice.

In 2010, the International Fruit Juice Association (IFU) proposed to establish International Juice Day (World Day). Initially, this idea was supported by Turkey, Spain and Poland, and then other countries, and today Juice Day is celebrated in many states, including Russia, but at different times of the year – depending on the traditions and customs of each country.

In Russia, the history of this holiday began in 2012., when the Russian Union of Juice Producers invited everyone to vote on the Internet for the Day of Juice and choose the time of its holding. This is how the Russian Day of Juice was established and the date of its annual celebration – third Saturday of September… After all, autumn is a traditional harvest period, and September still pleases with warm days.

The celebration of the first Day of Juice in Russia took place in 2013, and the main events of the holiday were held in Moscow, in the Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure, in which everyone took part. An interesting festive program awaited guests, journalists and all juice lovers. Since then, Juice Day has been held annually.

In addition to tasting juices from various manufacturers, experts explain and tell what concentrated juice is, from which countries it is brought and how the concentrated juice recovery process takes place, and then the audience themselves can create their own recipes from any fruit juices. There, experts in the field of nutrition and the food industry answer a variety of questions about juices, their quality, usefulness and role in human nutrition.

After talking with experts, everyone can take part in fun contests and quizzes. During the holiday, there is a photo exhibition of photographs sent to the photo competition in preparation for the Day. The winners receive valuable prizes and gifts. An interesting program is also provided for children.

The organizers of the holiday hope that it will soon become all-Russian and more widespread. The inclusion of the Day of Juice in the Russian calendar is connected with the desire to tell about the beneficial properties and the culture of consumption of juice products. Even if you cannot take part in the events held, the organizers suggest that you devote this day to your health and spend it with your family or friends, but always with your favorite juice.

* Consider your health status when including juice in your diet. For some disorders of carbohydrate metabolism, insulin resistance, diabetes and a number of other diseases, consult your doctor.
