Sonya, 7, read Judy Bloom’s Sheila the Gorgeous

Judy Bloom «Sheila the Magnificent»

“I liked the book so much that I have already read it twice. The girl Sheila is older than me and lives in New York. Once her parents rented a house in a small town for the summer. When they arrived, it turned out that a dog lives in the yard, and Sheila was afraid of dogs. Then she met girls there, and they all knew how to swim, but Sheila couldn’t. And she was ashamed, but she could not tell anyone about it. In general, at first it was bad for her there. But mom signed Sheila into the pool, and the coach taught her how to swim. And by the end of the holidays, she was no longer afraid of dogs. In general, Sheila is a big coward. It turned out that she was also afraid of the Headless Horseman, and thunder, and spiders. I also get scared: I’m afraid of fire, wars and volcanic eruptions. But I liked that Sheila copes with this and that her girlfriends help her. Together they are always looking for and coming up with something new — I love it so much too!
