A bizarre plant that belongs to mushrooms, since reproduction occurs by spores.

Australia is considered the birthplace of the flowertail. Places of growth: countries of Eastern Europe, North America, New Zealand, south of the African continent. On the territory of Our Country, it is most often found in the Primorsky Territory, as well as on the Crimean Peninsula, sometimes in the Transcaucasus. It grows mainly on the outskirts of forests, as well as in parks. Single specimens are found on sand dunes.

It belongs to rare species of mushrooms, therefore the Javanese flower tail is listed in The Red Book.

Prefers rotting forest floor, soils rich in humus.

The fruiting body is spindle-shaped and consists of three to seven to eight individual lobes. At the top of the mushroom, the blades are connected, forming a structure of an original shape. The color of the blades at the beginning of growth is whitish, then they become pinkish, red, orange.

The leg is very short, not pronounced. Hollow inside.

The Javan flowertail mushroom has a very pungent, specific odor that attracts insects.

Not edible.
