Jasmine indoor plant
The jasmine plant is a liana native to the tropics, which is successfully grown in indoor conditions. It is valued for its long flowering mainly in winter. Although its flowers are simple and small, they look delicate and graceful, moreover, they have a pleasant aroma.
This name unites a huge number of plant varieties. But at home, most often only a few of them are grown, which are most adapted to living indoors.
Jasmine is a tropical plant, only a few varieties can be grown at home
Among them, we will single out the most popular representatives of this genus:
- jasmine large-flowered. This shrub produces shoots up to 10 m long. Flowers form at the ends of the vines. They are large, white and star-shaped. Flowering is possible only in mature plants;
- multi-flowered variety. Liana grows very quickly. Differs in an abundance of small flowers. The buds have a pink tint, but when they open, the petals are completely white. The bush can be shaped as desired by wrapping around the support. To increase the leaf mass, it is useful to prune the plant;
- holoflower jasmine. Produces yellow flowers from the axils of the leaves. The vines are not very long, they fall down. Flowering occurs in the winter, during the same period a partial discharge of foliage begins;
- royal. It has long and narrow leaves. Gives flowers large for this plant – up to 7 cm in diameter. But they are completely odorless.
The plant is undemanding in care. It just does not tolerate lime, so you need to use settled water for irrigation, and the soil should be clay-soddy with sand. Moisturization is only moderate, it cannot be poured.
Indoor plant brazilian jasmine
This is what the people call the flower of diplomacy. In fact, it has nothing to do with jasmine and belongs to a different family. But these plants have common characteristics – it is also a vine native to tropical and subtropical countries.
Shoots do not grow more than 1,5 m. Flowers are bright, depending on the variety, are white, pink and red. They are large – their diameter can be up to 12 cm. They exude a pleasant aroma. The petals are arranged in a funnel
Constant pruning of shoots leads to the formation of a dense bush. But this procedure leads to a decrease in the number of colors. It is better to shape the plant by curling around the stems on a support. The only unpleasant feature of this indoor decoration is that it contains poisonous sap in the leaves, stems and roots.
It is better to refuse this plant if there are children or animals in the house. The variety of varieties allows you to choose a different, safer variety of jasmine.
