What is Itrax used for? What does the drug contain? Are there any contraindications to the use of the drug? Itrax comes in the form of capsules, it is a prescription drug. The main indication for the use of the drug is infection with fungi of various kinds. The dosage of the drug should be as prescribed by the doctor.

Itrax are capsules with a very broad spectrum of action. The main indication for the use of the drug is diseases resulting from infection with fungi and yeasts. What should the dosage of the drug look like? Can anyone take the drug?

Itrax – indications

Itrax is a prescription medicine. It comes in the form of capsules, the main active ingredient of which is itraconazole. The main indications for treatment with the drug are all types of fungal and yeast infections:

  1. pityriasis versicolor
  2. fungal infection of the cornea
  3. mycosis of the vagina and vulva
  4. systemic candidiasis
  5. infections caused by dermatophytes
  6. systemic aspergillosis
  7. sporotrychoza
  8. onychomycosis
  9. blastomycosis
  10. mucosal infection
  11. paracoccidioidomycosis

The dosage and its frequency should be determined by the attending physician, to ensure proper absorption of the drug, the dose should be taken immediately after a large meal. The capsules should be swallowed whole with more water. If the patient has difficulty swallowing, the contents of the capsule can be poured onto a teaspoon and mixed with an appropriate amount of water or juice, or the powder from the capsule can be added to yoghurt or fruit mousse. Do not exceed the number of recommended doses, as this may cause side effects to occur, in a situation where one dose is missed, the next one must not be doubled. Dose adjustments are required in individual patient groups. Depending on the severity of symptoms, treatment may last from several days to several weeks.

Itrax – side effects

Unfortunately, there are situations when there are clear indications for treatment with the drug, but the patient cannot take Itrax. The main contraindication of treatment with the preparation is allergy or hypersensitivity to any component of the drug. Itrax cannot be used together with other drugs metabolized by the cytochrome P-3 isoenzyme CYP 4A450. The measure is contraindicated for patients who have had or have cardiac dysfunction and for people with liver diseases. You should also tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Itrax can also cause side effects, especially in the case of longer treatment. Drug-induced side effects include:

  1. rash
  2. nausea
  3. vomiting
  4. thrombocytopenia
  5. taste disturbance
  6. hyperbilirubinemia
  7. swelling
  8. menstrual disorders
  9. Stevens-Johnson syndrome
  10. exfoliative dermatitis
  11. leukopenia
  12. transient increase in liver enzymes
  13. serum sickness syndrome
  14. temporary or permanent hearing loss
  15. blurred and double vision
  16. pulmonary oedema
  17. anaphylactic reactions
  18. urinary incontinence
  19. paresthesia
  20. toxic epidermal necrolysis
  21. hepatitis
  22. erectile dysfunction
  23. erythema multiforme
  24. pollakiuria
  25. angioedema
  26. sensitivity to light
  27. hearing impairment
  28. fever
  29. leukoclastic vasculitis

In the event of disturbing symptoms, you should go to a control visit, the doctor may order a reduction in the dosage or complete discontinuation of the drug and the introduction of a substitute for the treatment. Itrax must not be given to children.
