Items that cannot be used immediately after purchase

The temptation is great, but you have to be patient, it’s worth it.

Strictly speaking, only baked sausages are sold ready-to-eat. Everything else requires at least minimal preparation before using it. You should not ignore these simple rules – after all, they were invented for a reason, but for the sake of our comfort, safety and even the safety of the wallet.

The point is not even that before us anyone could measure it, leaving particles of their skin, bacteria and microbes on the inside of things. Although this in itself is very unpleasant. There are some more nuances. It turns out that some fabric dyes can be so aggressive that they cause dermatitis. After washing, everything will return to normal, but you should not put on brightly colored dresses and shirts right from the store. In addition to dyes, substances that have got on the clothes during the production process remain on the fabric. For example, formaldehyde resin is a carcinogen that does nothing good to health. The substance is a colorless gas that is applied to clothing to help it last longer. After all, who knows how long it will take before they buy it.

In the case of outerwear, the rule of the first wash can still be somehow neglected. But if things come into contact with the skin, then you should not risk it.

Even XNUMX% natural fabrics are not immune to treatment with toxic substances. Everything is solely for the purpose of safety. Bed linens are often dyed with aniline dyes, which can cause allergies. And the snow-white color of sheets and pillowcases is achieved with the help of chlorine-containing substances. All this, of course, is a good idea to wash before putting it on the bed.

Home textiles are treated with substances that protect the fabric from the formation of rigid folds, and so that “fluffiness” does not cake. That is why the towel, even just taken out of the package, is so soft and even. These substances are not good for human skin. Moreover, when in contact with wet skin, they are much more willing to “migrate” from the towel to the body, causing allergies and irritation.

It is clear that the plates and cups need to be washed. But you should not immediately put pans and pots on the stove. Enamel dishes must first be washed with warm water and soda, then dried well. We do the same with aluminum cookware. Only after washing in it you need to boil the water and pour it out. Stainless steel dishes are easy to clean with your usual dishwashing detergent.

After washing, a teflon-coated frying pan should be lightly greased with vegetable oil. The most difficult thing to prepare is a cast iron skillet. Such dishes are treated with a sealant so that they do not rust. Therefore, the iron pot must first be washed, then dried properly (you can even in the oven if the handles allow it), then grease it with vegetable oil inside and out, and reheat it in the oven at a temperature of about 100-150 degrees.

This miracle of technology cannot be turned on immediately after delivery. Experts say that the consequences can be dire, up to and including the failure of the compressor. You need to wait a few hours – 8 to 16 will be enough. If the refrigerator was transported vertically, then the period will be reduced to 4 – 6 hours. This is necessary so that all fluids are evenly distributed throughout the system. It turns out that you cannot check if the refrigerator is working right away. Therefore, make sure that there is nothing in the papers that you sign that you have checked the operability of the device.

New teapots usually smell so bad that you don’t want to use them right away. And I want to first boil water in them “empty”. It will be more effective if you add 30 grams of soda or 50 grams of citric acid to the water. Then the water must be left until it cools down, poured out, rinsed the kettles and boiled again – but with clean water. You will have to pour it out again. And then you can use the kettle fearlessly.

Remember the story of the girl who almost died of sepsis just by trying on sandals on her bare feet? So, although sellers usually prohibit such tricks, it is possible that someone still managed to put on shoes or sneakers without a sock. It would be nice to get rid of a potential infection nevertheless: treat the shoes from the inside with chlorhexidine (you can buy it at the pharmacy). Shoes made of smooth leather should be immediately treated with cream and wax, and suede and nubuck should be sprayed with impregnation for shoes to protect against possible weather disasters and street dust.
