Itchy eyes, itchy nose… What if it was a seasonal allergy?
Every year, spring is synonymous with a runny nose and itching for many allergic people, the number of which is constantly increasing in France and in Quebec. How to recognize these allergies and especially, how to avoid them?
Seasonal allergy: on the rise
The number of cases of seasonal allergies has increased dramatically over the past 20 years. Whereas in 1968, they concerned only 3% of the French population, today almost1 in 5 French people are affected, especially young people and children. In Canada, 1 in 4 people suffer from it.
Rhinitis, conjunctivitis, allergy can take many faces and have several causes including pollution and climate change (increase in temperature and humidity) having the effect of increasing the concentration of pollen in the air that we breathe.
The pollination period has also lengthened due to global warming: it now extends from January to October and also explains the growing number of allergies around the world.
