Honey – so fragrant, appetizing, noble, golden or dark amber, and even natural – it is no wonder that this product asks for a recipe for some kind of cosmetic product. And you can’t refuse its popularity – honey has been used in beauty rituals since time immemorial, including hair products.

What Ingredients Does Your Hair Need? We invite you to find out right now.
How to make a honey hair mask at home?
A mask with honey for hair is easy to prepare at home, usually the basis of such masks is oils, aloe juice and other products, and honey acts as a useful additive.
Before use, honey should be slightly heated in a water bath to a liquid consistency (in no case above 40 degrees). If you are preparing a honey-oil hair mask, you can warm the oil along with honey. Make sure the mixture is not hot!
Use natural honey of the best quality. Its variety and region of origin are not so important, as well as the consistency, just flowing honey is more convenient to use. But all this is a matter of taste.
How to use honey hair mask?
As for the rules of application:
mask on the scalp applied with honey before washing, on dry hair, washed off with shampoo.
Hair care honey mask applied after shampooing, on clean, damp strands. It is washed off without shampoo, with a balm conditioner.
Honey mask for hair and scalp applied after washing, on clean, damp hair, as in point two.
And now let’s move on to the most important thing – recipes for hair masks with honey that you can cook at home.
Recipes for honey hair masks
We immediately warn you that honey, although a wonderful product, is a strong allergen. Test it before applying it to your scalp, and if you have ever had an allergic reaction to honey, refrain from using it as part of a mask.
For hair growth
A mask for hair growth with honey is prepared on the basis of special oils that are used to combat hair loss: burdock, castor oil, usma oil. Take any of them or mix in equal proportions. The dose can be adjusted depending on the thickness of the hair.
So, we take 3 tablespoons of oil, mix it with honey, heat it to body temperature in a water bath, apply it on the scalp, leave it for half an hour, you can put on a cap on top. Wash off with shampoo.
For dry hair
In a mask for dry hair, honey is combined with coconut (or olive) oil, you need to mix the ingredients in a 2: 1 ratio and oil your hair well with a warm mixture. Leave for an hour, covered with a cap and a towel – the hair will become soft, elastic.
For shine hair
For hair shine, ingredients are usually used that contain acid – it closes the cuticle of the hair, making it more shiny. Dairy products go well with honey.
Mix about 150 g of yogurt (curdled milk, matsoni) with a tablespoon of olive oil and 1-2 tablespoons of honey. Apply to hair, remove under a cap for 10-20 minutes, rinse. In the finale, you can rinse your hair with a decoction of chamomile – it will give a golden sheen to natural blond or light blond hair.
Moisturizing
A good moisturizing hair mask can be prepared from honey, banana (moisturizes, rich in trace elements) and olive oil (source of vitamin E, nourishes hair, adds shine and elasticity). Mix one ripe (!) banana with a tablespoon of oil and two tablespoons of honey, apply the puree to your hair and leave it under a cap for an hour.
For oily hair
Fortification
The firming mask can be applied along the entire length – from roots to ends. As is often the case in masks for this purpose, it contains a popular in folk cosmetic art and a very useful ingredient rich in fats, amino acids, and protein – an egg.
Nutritious
Take a ripe avocado, mash with a fork until mashed, add a tablespoon of honey and any oil of your choice. Leave the composition on wet hair for an hour, and after rinsing, enjoy the results of homemade “honey restoration” of hair: softness, obedience, shine. You can read about the benefits of avocado for hair in this article.
Restorative
Another restorative mask with honey consists of a fatty fermented milk product – sour cream (nourishes and adds shine), egg yolk (strengthens, prevents brittleness) and oil: coconut (for thick, coarse, porous hair), avocado or olive (if the hair is thin or medium thickness).
You need to mix 3 tablespoons of sour cream and one tablespoon of other ingredients.
Important! This mask is applied to dry hair and left for 30-40 minutes before washing.
Cosmetic hair masks
We shared recipes, in our opinion, the best hair masks with honey. But do not neglect the ready-made masks. They are convenient and pleasant to use, they are tested for safety, have proven effectiveness. They do not need to be cooked – the manufacturer did it for us by mixing a variety of ingredients in the laboratory, including natural ones.
Hair mask Fructis, Superfood “Macadamia. Smoothing” for dry and unruly hair, Garnier
We at Healthy-Food really appreciate this mask from the Superfood series. Although it does not contain honey, it contains excellent oils – macadamia, almond, jojoba. This complex perfectly softens, moisturizes and nourishes dry hair. What else is good? No silicones. And this mask can be used as a balm or leave-in conditioner!
Revitalizing, intensely nourishing mask for split ends and damaged hair Dercos Nutrients Nutri Protein, Vichy
Coarse dry hair with split ends after this mask with quinoa extract (a source of proteins) and nourishing praxis oil will become less brittle, and the ends will be smooth.
Elsev Dream Length Steam Mask for long damaged hair, L’Oréal Paris
This mask seems to have it all. The package even includes a thermal cap. It helps to warm up the composition on the hair so that the active ingredients (hydrolyzed wheat protein, castor oil, vegetable keratin) penetrate deeper into the cuticle and restore damaged hair along the entire length.
Botanic Therapy Nourishing Coconut Milk Mask, Garnier
Mask in the form of milk with almond extract, coconut milk, aloe juice nourishes, softens and smoothes the hair. The formula contains 98% ingredients of natural origin, no silicones. Personal advice: girls with curly hair, take advantage.

This coconut oil formula, unlike homemade masks with this ingredient, nourishes the hair without weighing it down and rinses out easily, while also adding shine, smoothness, detangling and softening.
Mask for very dry hair Superfood “Banana”, Garnier
Moisturizing Banana with Olive, Sunflower, Shea and Coconut Oils is a great recipe made by professionals. Oils give hair softness, silkiness and shine. The mask should be kept on the hair in just three minutes. Record the time!
