«We would like to reach as many people as possible in order to change their view on matters concerning diseases and mental disorders. The work of a psychologist or psychiatrist is often perceived as something negative, and it is not, ”explains a group of high school students from Krakow. They want to reach their peers through social media.
Who are the psychoPOWERS?
They write about their actions and motives:
«We are psychoMOCni and we are a group of students from Secondary School No. 2020 in Krakow. We are implementing a social project as part of the nationwide Olympic Games “Zwolniane z Teorii”. We started operating in November XNUMX. This year’s edition of the Olympics will end at the end of May, but even after it is closed, we intend to continue our activities.
The aim of our project is to increase knowledge about the possibilities of obtaining help in the field of psychology and psychiatry. In a pleasant and easily accessible way, we are going to debunk the myths about the help of specialists. Our goal is to make people aware that the willingness to obtain the support of a psychologist is not something wrong, but something very necessary.
We would like to reach as many people as possible to change their view on diseases and mental disorders. Despite the prevalence of these problems, few people know where they can go and who can help them. In addition, the work of a psychologist or psychiatrist is often perceived as something negative, and it is not.
Help on the Internet
Our activities are mainly based on running social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) and our website. We publish posts on various topics, including about mental disorders, the first visit to a specialist or about how a pandemic affects the psyche. Our activity can also be observed on our YouTube channel, where we publish interviews with specialists.
We have already talked about the state of child psychiatry in Poland, eating stress and emotions, and depression. We also work with the local government of our school – we recorded a podcast about our project and together we run the school support section.
You can learn more about the group’s activities by visiting their website, as well as Facebook and Instagram profiles. Take a look, read it, pass it on!
