Information about a new infectious disease from the Middle Kingdom is increasingly appearing in the media. Former chief sanitary doctor of Russia Gennady Onishchenko assessed the danger of the virus.

Not so long ago, another infection began to spread in China. This is a new type of acute fever with thrombocytopenic syndrome (SFTS).
It is already known about the death of at least seven Chinese citizens from the new syndrome.
Ticks are the vectors of acute fever. However, according to local experts, the virus is also transmitted from person to person – through blood and mucous membranes.
The former chief sanitary doctor of Russia, and now the deputy of the State Duma, Gennady Onishchenko, commented on the news about the possibility of the spread of the disease to the territory of our country.
The politician believes that one should not be afraid of an acute SFTS fever, especially during a period when China is closed for visits.
In addition, he stressed that the new form of the disease belongs to a large group of Bunyaviruses already known to science. As they write in the media, the first time about such a disease became known back in 2011.
“Nothing bad will happen. There is also thrombocytopenia with coronavirus. This news appeared today – tomorrow, I think, there will be a clearer situation. There is nothing beyond the PRC, “Onishchenko explained in an interview with RT.
Earlier, representatives of Rospotrebnadzor clarified that there were no cases of acute fever with thrombocytopenic syndrome in Russia. However, in our country there is every opportunity to counteract its spread, reports .
