It is possible to get pregnant shortly after the miscarriage

Women who have had a miscarriage do not have to wait long if they want to try to conceive again, reports the British Medical Journal.

Every fifth pregnancy ends in miscarriage, and the risk of miscarriage increases with age. According to a 1981-2000 study by scientists from the University of Aberdeen, which included 30 women, conception within six months of a miscarriage has the best chance of success, and a caesarean section is less often needed. A longer break – from six months to a year – increases the risk of another miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy, prematurity and low birth weight.

Meanwhile, according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), women should wait at least six months before trying for a baby again. According to Dr.Sohinee Bhattacharya, who leads the research, the older a woman becomes, the more this waiting reduces her chances of having a healthy baby. The only exception are complications such as a past infection – then you really have to wait longer (PAP).
