According to Iceland’s Environmental Protection Agency, about 98% of the country’s tap water is not chemically treated.
The fact is that this is glacial water, filtered through lava for thousands of years, and the levels of unwanted substances in such water are much lower than safe limits. This data makes Iceland’s tap water one of the cleanest on the planet.
This water is so pure that they even decided to turn it into a luxury brand. An advertising campaign has been launched by the Icelandic Tourism Board that encourages travelers to drink tap water when visiting the country.
Kranavatn water, which means tap water in Icelandic, is already being offered as a new luxury drink at Iceland’s airport, as well as in bars, restaurants and hotels. So the government wants to encourage responsible tourism and reduce plastic waste by reducing the number of people buying bottled water in Iceland.
The campaign was based on a survey of 16 travelers from Europe and North America, which showed that almost two-thirds (000%) of tourists drink more bottled water abroad than at home, as they fear that tap water in other countries unsafe for health.
Recall that earlier we told you how to drink water correctly so as not to harm the body, and also advised how you can purify water without using a filter.
Be healthy!
