Israel’s medical authorities on Sunday approved the administration of the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to all persons 12 years of age and older who received the second dose at least five months earlier. An additional injection has already received 21 percent. Israelis, or over 1,9 million people.
Among the people at the age of 70-79, the percentage of those vaccinated with a booster dose is 80%.among people in the age of 60-69 it is 65%, and among people aged 50-59 – 47%.
The new rules come into force immediately, and eligible persons should make appointments at their health insurance funds, the Ministry of Health reported.

“This is a privilege that no other country has,” declared Prime Minister Naftali Benet, urging the Israelis to take the third dose.
Israel is the first country to officially start administering the third dose to people over 1 years of age on August 60. Thereafter, the qualifying age was gradually lowered.
The ministry also announced that people who have been vaccinated with the third dose will be released from the weekly quarantine required after returning to Israel from countries considered unsafe in terms of risk of infection.
The quarantine exemption also applies to those who received the second dose of the vaccine in the last five months. Instead, arriving citizens will either self-isolate themselves for 24 hours or until they pass a negative test after landing.

From October 1, the so-called The green pass, allowing vaccinated people to enter certain assemblies and public places, will expire six months after receiving the second or third dose, the ministry said. This decision has, inter alia, mainly to encourage the intake of a booster injection.
The health department was unable to judge whether a fourth dose would be needed in the next six months. “It is too early to talk about the end of the fourth wave” – emphasized Minister of Health Nitan Horowitz.
On Tuesday, the highest one-day infection rate so far was recorded during the fourth wave, over 10. infections, which was close to the record daily balance in January.
