Is Vegeta Natur healthy?
The fashion for healing food is doing well. Unfortunately, very often it is just a marketing gimmick. Recently, we get a lot of inquiries about Vegeta Natur. Today we will analyze its composition and compare it with the original Vegeta. Is there a significant difference between them?
What is the composition of Vegeta?
Composition: table salt, dried vegetables 15,5 percent. (carrot, parsnip, onion, celery, parsley), flavor enhancers (monosodium glutamate, sodium inosinate), sugar, spices, potato starch, color (riboflavin).
It comes as no surprise to anyone that Vegeta, the ‘original’ one, is not one of the healthiest. The biggest accusation against her is the huge amount of salt (it is listed first in the composition, which means that it has the largest percentage share in the product) and flavor enhancers:
- Monosodium Glutamate: We have reported more than once disturbing reports about it. It can make you overweight and obese and lead to allergic reactions and asthma. Hypersensitivity to glutamate is manifested by burning in the neck area, nausea, chest tightness, excessive sweating, dizziness, migraine headaches, allergies, asthma, weakness.
- Disodium inosinate: be careful with this. Inosinate should be avoided by people with gout and kidney stones, and categorically by children.
The amount of dried vegetables is also not impressive, it accounts for less than 16 percent. the product. In addition to salt, a small amount of vegetables and enhancers, Vegeta also has sugar, spices and a dye – harmless. To be fair, however, it must be added that Vegeta is one of the best products of this type anyway. Its big plus is the lack of fat. Most often, producers add the cheapest and very harmful palm fat, which I wrote about when revealing ready-made Winiary sauces.
What is the composition of Vegeta Natur?
Ingredients: salt, dried vegetables 30%. (carrots, parsnips, onions, potatoes, celery, leeks, peppers, parsley, garlic), sugar, yeast extract, spices (black pepper, turmeric, dill).
As the manufacturer himself emphasizes, Vegeta Natur was created as a response to the growing awareness and consumer demand for healthy and natural food. It also promises that the ‘new’ Vegeta is fully in line with the latest trends in healthy eating. Is it true? The differences are certainly:
- No flavor enhancers. This is a huge plus, given the concerns about the effects of monosodium glutamate. Instead, Vegeta Natur uses yeast extract. What’s this? Yeast extract, for short, is made by adding salt to yeast. According to the Food Chemical Codex, it is a product consisting of water-soluble components of yeast cells, mainly amino acids, peptides, carbohydrates and salts. Yeast extracts are classified as natural flavoring preparations, as products safe for health are included in the GRAS list, no ADI is set for them. Interestingly, it is from such an extract that we can obtain monosodium glutamate in a natural way! However, the amount per serving is much smaller and a huge plus is that we eat something of natural origin, not obtained artificially.
- More vegetables. Vegeta Natur contains twice as much vegetables as its original counterpart. The producer boasts that 450 g of vegetables were used in one package. Their diversity is also striking – as many as 9 vegetables compared to 6 in the basic version.
- No dye. It sounds good, although the riboflavin used in the first Vegeta is still harmless.
- JWhen it comes to salt, it is still in the first place. Probably there is a little less of it, due to the increase in the amount of vegetables, but it’s still a lot. We know perfectly well that salt in the diet should be limited, and it is best not to salt it at all. It is the cause of many diseases, such as hypertension, cancer.
Is Vegeta Natur healthy?
How is it with this Vegeta after all? Certainly, the Natur version is healthier, which I proved above. Still, this is not ideal. According to the manufacturer, the amount of added salt does not match the latest trends in healthy food. It’s best to prepare your Vegeta at home by mixing dried vegetables and spices. We will then add the amount of salt and sugar to the finished dish, in the smallest amount that will be acceptable to us. It will be healthier and cheaper.
What is your opinion about Vegeta Natur? Which seasoning is the best in your opinion? Which healthy spices do you recommend?
