Is Tibetan gymnastics useful?

Videos about Tibetan hormonal gymnastics have collected more than a million views on YouTube. There are a lot of those who not only watched the video, but now do this set of exercises every morning. Commentary by a Tibetan medicine specialist from the Float Studio Yulia Yusipova.

“The proposed complex is, in fact, a massage of energy centers. When performed daily, it can really improve our well-being. True, from the point of view of Eastern healing systems, this “Tibetan” gymnastics does not look balanced. It focuses on the upper energy centers, and does not work with the lower ones at all. Only in the final, when vibrations are performed with hands and feet, there is some kind of balancing of energies. But, in my opinion, this is not enough to achieve a balance.

“Tibetan” gymnastics has nothing to do with Tibet or Tibetan medicine. These exercises are closer to the elements of self-massage from Hindu practitioners. So I think they have more Indian roots. In the tradition of Tibetan medicine, there are completely different healing practices, including motor ones, based on the healing yoga of Tsa Lung. Translated into Russian, its name means “the wind flows in the channels.” In the Tibetan tradition, different types of energy are called winds. In Tsa Lung, the study of internal winds is carried out in the main energy centers. All exercises are performed while holding the breath. A small part is done only when you wake up, the main part is done at any time of the day. Some elements of the Tibetan gymnastics Tsa Lung I prescribe to patients. These can be exercises to strengthen the cardiovascular system, restore the kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, thyroid gland and balance the energies in the body.
