How to recognize an imitation cheese product?
id=»h20″>
Unfortunately many cheese products pretend to be real yellow cheese. Such a product most often is intentionally mislabeled. It may not differ in appearance and taste from real cheese. Only complicated methods, incl. chromatography, such falsification can be detected by calorimetry or immunoenzymatic. Visually It is impossible to distinguish between cheese and imitation cheese, so the consumer has to trust your intuition. A hint may be the price (unfortunately not always), if low, there is a high probability that it is a cheese-like product. In the photo, the imitation cheese and the cheese differ in color. However, this is not a differentiating factor as the cheeses are also colored and can be paler or darker. Id = »h20 ″>

We did simple test using real cheese and cheese-like product pod in terms of its suitability for the preparation of pizza or toast. Which of them drags more? Both practically “melted” nicely. Real cheese looked more appetizing. However, it is definitely a matter of taste. When asking random people which product is tastier, many people pointed to a cheese-like product.

There is no point in demonizing cheese-like products, especially when the producer explicitly informs us that his product is not cheese. The imitation cheese products will have a lower nutritional value, but also the price. Therefore, when we read labels, we consciously choose such a product or not. It is worse when the cheese product pretends to be a real cheese and the manufacturer does not declare it on the packaging. Then it is practically impossible to recognize the difference for the average consumer.
