A successful sex life has an excellent effect on well-being. There are many advantages of regular intercourse: it is a great medicine, cosmetic, and even one of the most effective and pleasant ways to lose extra pounds. Despite the numerous advantages, it is worth knowing that even sex can sometimes be harmful…
Physical activity in any form has a beneficial effect on the human body. This is confirmed by specialists in various fields – neurologists, cardiologists, dermatologists, psychologists. According to research, sex gives us, among other things:
- Better well-being – the body secretes endorphins, i.e. hormones of happiness, responsible for our good mood after intercourse.
- Feeling of fulfillment – since sex is successful, everything is fine in a relationship, our self-esteem increases, we feel attractive, we are not tired of sexual frustration.
- Pain relief.
- Firming the skin – good sex will even help reduce cellulite.
- Prevention of heart attacks and strokes – blood circulates better.
- Pressure regulation.
- Supporting the removal of harmful toxins from the body.
- Reducing the risk of peptic ulcer disease.
- Strengthening the body and resistance to diseases.
There are definitely more benefits of this type. However, it is worth knowing that sometimes sex can be harmful – although fortunately it is quite easy to avoid it and there are not too many disadvantages!
What if sex…makes you fat?!
Indian scholar Ritesh Menezes put forward a theory that sex can cause weight gain in some people. The reason for this would be the production of prolactin by the body, i.e. a hormone that is produced, for example, during an orgasm. Fortunately, other studies refute this theory – provided that a person does not abuse large amounts of carbohydrates, fats, sugars, caloric alcohol, he is not at risk of gaining weight due to sex. If we eat normally and do not overdo it with sweets or fast food, frequent intercourse will have a positive effect on the figure. During half an hour of sex, we can burn up to 150 to 400 calories!
Hygiene and gadgets under control
Sex with a partner who may be a carrier of various infections is, of course, fraught with high risk. And contrary to appearances, it’s not just about vaginal sex – oral and anal sex can also be harmful. Therefore, you should take care of hygiene, and in the event of health complications in one of the partners, heal yourself and stop intercourse for the time being. When it comes to casual partners, it should be obvious to use contraception in the form of a condom, which will protect against sexually transmitted diseases.
Also, the use of some gadgets, e.g. vibrators in the case of women, may cause a lack of desire to have sex with a real partner. What’s more, for men, intercourse 3 times a week can result in genital irritation, sore testicles and a decrease in energy. When it comes to sex during pregnancy, if proper precautions are taken and there are no health contraindications, it will not hurt, and may even have a positive effect on the woman’s body.
