Good day. My question is about gastric problemsI have been struggling with for many years. It often happens to me that after eating something heavy or fatty, I feel heavy, my liver hurts and I feel very bad in general. I use Raphacholin regularly for my ailments and I must admit that it helps me a lot. However, I began to wonder if Raphacholin is safe? Does such regular use of Raphacholin have side effects?

So far, I haven’t noticed any side effects of Raphacholineven when I use it for several days in a row, but I’m a bit afraid that using Raphacholin for gastric problems may harm myself in some way. I would be very grateful to know if Raphacholin is safe, or if it has any side effects that I haven’t noticed yet, or have not linked them to this drug at all. By the way, I would like to ask what it is like safe dose of Raphacholinwhich I can use, for example, on a weekly basis? Are there any restrictions I shouldn’t exceed? Thank you in advance for your help.

The doctor explains the rules of safe use of Raphacholin

In the Summary of Product Characteristics you can read that one tablet contains 150 mg of dry extract of Raphanus sativus L., radix, i.e. black radish root. Additionally, the tablet contains activated carbon and the extraction solvent is 85% ethanol. In addition to the above-mentioned ingredients, 1 tablet also contains 47 mg of thick extract of Cynarae scolymus L., herb, i.e. artichoke herb (also with ethanol extraction solvent, this time 50%), 40 mg of dehydrocholic acid (acidum dehydrocholicum) and 15 mg of essential oil with Mentha piperita L., aetheroleum (mint essential oil). The excipient in the tablet is 151,86 mg of sucrose. The indication is the treatment of indigestion, digestive ailments associated with abnormal liver function and in disorders of the gallbladder contractile activity. Dosage recommended for adults:

  1. in case of indigestion, take 1-3 tablets at a time,
  2. in other digestive ailments, 3-1 tablets 2 times a day 30 minutes after a meal
  3. in constipation 2 tablets in the morning and evening 30 minutes before a meal.

Raphacholin medicinal product should not be used for more than 14 days. If after this time there has been no improvement or the patient feels worse, it is recommended to contact the Family Doctor.

Indigestion, flatulence, stomach pain, belching, nausea, constipation, if they occur chronically, may be a symptom of digestive system diseases or the result of an unhealthy diet. It may be necessary to conduct a detailed medical history regarding the symptoms, conduct a physical examination and order additional laboratory, endoscopic and / or imaging tests.

Contraindications to the use of Raphacholin is hypersensitivity to the active or auxiliary substances contained in the tablet, severe liver diseases, obstruction of the biliary tract, gastrointestinal tract, acute and chronic gastroenteritis. Raphacholin should also not be used in children under 10 years of age, the safety of the drug has not been studied in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Side effects include disorders of the stomach and intestines, liver and biliary tract, allergic reactions.
