Do porcini mushrooms grow in October, because it is known that they prefer warm weather? It often happens that October is one of the main months when you can gather a rich harvest of mushrooms. Most experienced mushroom pickers rate the chances of collecting fruit body data in mid-autumn quite high.
I must say that the growth of porcini mushrooms in October will depend on the climatic and weather conditions of a particular area. So, if solid frosts were not observed, then you can safely go for the harvest of mushrooms. Often, the so-called “Indian summer” is a good reason to pick a lot of white mushrooms. It is better to look for them in the grass, bushes or sunny glades. In early October, the weather still allows you to find a lot of mushrooms, but already with the onset of the first serious frosts, these fruiting bodies are completely gone.

The optimal conditions for the growth of mushrooms are considered to be an average air temperature of + 13 ° with a humidity of 40% or more. Can the mentioned weather conditions be observed in October – are there porcini mushrooms this month? In most areas, such fruiting bodies can be easily found in the forest. It is from the beginning of October at night that large dews begin to form, moistening the soil. In this regard, the growth of mushrooms and other types of fruiting bodies starts in large numbers from under the ground.
Mushroom pickers with experience are well aware of the features of the forest flora, pointing them to the places where their favorite mushrooms “hid”. Anthills, blueberries, heather, red fly agaric are sure signs showing that porcini mushrooms grow nearby. In addition, these fruiting bodies like to settle under the canopy of oak, pine, spruce and especially birch.
However, before going out into the forest, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the appearance of porcini mushrooms, so as not to confuse them with an inedible gall fungus during the collection process.
