Despite the huge harvest that the smoking addiction reaps every year, there are still many myths about it. Today, on the occasion of World Smoking Cessation Day, we are debunking the biggest of them.
According to the World Health Organization – WHO, cigarettes kill more than 8 million people each year, accounting for one in ten deaths worldwide. According to estimates, more than 7 million of these deaths are the result of direct smoking, and about 1,2 million are the result of passive smoking, i.e. exposure of bystanders to the harmful substances of cigarette smoke, resulting from the burning of tobacco. We would like to remind you that around 8 million people smoke in Poland.
