The dietary restrictions for pregnant and lactating women who are encouraged to eat a healthy diet are significant. You can’t fatty, salty, pickled, a lot of flour. All doctor’s advice must be followed so as not to harm the child. The baby’s digestive system is not yet fully formed even after birth and requires a special diet for the mother. In this case, her milk will be complete and healthy.
It is especially difficult for sausage lovers, because the counters are littered with products that exude a pleasant aroma. However, a rich assortment does not mean healthy.
Why sausages are bad for mothers when breastfeeding
All useful and harmful substances that come with food enter the child’s body with mother’s milk. Sausages, even the most appetizing ones, are simply stuffed with preservatives, soy protein, dyes and other chemical elements that undermine the health of a little person. Having received a dose of such “chemistry”, the baby will have:
- colic;
- bloating;
- diarrhea;
- allergies and other “delights” that will have to be treated for a long time.
This also applies to so-called children’s sausages. They need to be treated very carefully and it is better not to take risks, especially in the first months of a baby’s life. However, if the desire to enjoy your favorite product is irresistible, do not create psychological difficulties for yourself, but try to choose the right product.
What to choose: boiled or smoked
Let’s say right away for smoked products – no. This is out of the question. And as for the sausages of the “doctor’s” or “children’s” type, here, when choosing, you need:
- be sure to pay attention to the expiration date and composition;
- do not buy a product that has a rich color – this indicates an overload of dyes;
- observe the child’s reaction, if everything went well, you should not experiment with a new product;
You can stop at sausages and wieners. But the amount eaten should not exceed 50 g / day, 150 g / week. Homemade meat products, baked or stewed, are much healthier.
