Hello dear blog readers. I want to continue the topic of NLP. The previous article (“How to achieve success using basic NLP techniques without preparation”) did not fit everything. And even if it did, it would be inconvenient to read. Therefore, I create a separate post. We all know that communication plays a vital role in everyone’s life. The beauty of NLP methods is that they are quite simple. And applying them in real life, after a little exercise, almost always leads to the desired result. Many do not trust NLP methods precisely because they are very similar to tricks or tricks, they are so clear and effective. Try it yourself, for example, to use what NLP calls:
Rapport
- Sit in front of the interlocutor, leading a casual friendly, confidential conversation (try not to pay attention to your actions),
- within a few minutes, quietly copy his pose in a mirror image, and when he changes it, also change after him. Do this for 7-10 minutes.
- Change your posture and your interlocutor will follow you, copy the position of the body that you accept.
In this way, you can force a person to perform the necessary physical momentary action, for example, sign a document, taste something, pick up some object, etc. At the same time, if he is carried away by the conversation, he may not even notice what he is doing and not remember about it.
The secret of NLP methods is that through verbal and non-verbal manifestations they allow you to give a command to the human brain directly, bypassing consciousness. But conscious perception is control, the ability to independently decide what is worth doing and what is not.
If you find an opportunity to bypass this «guard», then you get open access to control the behavior of others or your own, and, therefore, it is easier for you to overcome barriers in communicating with people.
The beauty of using NLP is that scientists have already found these methods for you and offered clear and simple guidelines for action, accessible to everyone. However, knowing the basic principles of technology, you can also independently identify effective techniques used by people around you and consciously learn from them.
To achieve success in communication, you need to be on the same wavelength.
In NLP, the technique of adjusting to the interlocutor is often used. What is the essence of this approach? You have probably noticed that all people speak at different rates, with different volumes, with varying degrees of gestures and other verbal and non-verbal features. When you communicate with a person, you, of course, speak the language that the interlocutor knows.
Everyone understands that it is stupid to speak Chinese with an Englishman and Hindi with a Frenchman. Many do not think about the fact that other parameters of speech also need to be taken into account if you want to be understood. If a person usually speaks slowly and quietly, communicating with him in raised tones and at a fast pace, you risk being misunderstood, just as if you were saying something to him in an unfamiliar language.
Therefore, in order to communicate effectively, and even more so to manage people, you first need to carefully analyze the behavior of the interlocutor. Identify the main features of his perception by verbal and non-verbal signs and adjust. That is, start speaking in a language he understands.
If you have a person with an insufficient level of education in front of you, it is pointless to pour smart terms in front of him. And if an active loud choleric with a fast pace of speech and a tough manner of communication, then being soft and quiet with him means not being heard.
Take a close look at the manner of behavior and speech of the interlocutor and try to copy it as naturally as possible for yourself, then you will miraculously be heard and will be able not only to convey the necessary information, but also to control the actions and decisions of the communication partner, lead him.
Adjustment can be done
- in the pace and volume of speech: if a person speaks quickly, speed up, if it is quiet, lower the volume of the voice a little.
- in the modality of perception: with visuals, you need to use the terms of visual perception, with kinesthetics, you need to focus on feelings and sensations.
- in the level of education: if you managed to understand the degree of education, it is better to give explanations and reasoning at the level that is easiest for a person to understand.
- in the emotional sphere: show similar emotions, verbally join them: for example, sympathize with unpleasant situations, tell a similar story, or laugh at a funny joke you just told if the mood is good.
- in the field of common values: support interlocutors in what they value most, if you know it, convincingly show that you share their beliefs.
- in the field of perception of reality: for this it is enough to discuss something that is around, emphasize that you are in the same reality with the interlocutor, discuss the details of the interior, an unusual incident that happened next to you, etc.
Having managed to properly adjust to the interlocutor, you will be able to lead him along.
How to control a person using NLP methods?
After a sufficient level of trust with a communication partner has been achieved, you can control his behavior and quite effectively get what you need from a person. To do this, NLP has developed many simple and effective methods that are not difficult to master.
Their impact is based on the characteristics of human psychology.
The choice of technique for managing the behavior of the interlocutor is largely determined by the goals pursued by communication.
If you need to achieve love and sympathy, there are effective ways to seduce using NLP techniques. For example technique:
“Old Anchor”
It is based on the reflex fixation system discovered by Academician Pavlov: the smell of oranges, pine needles and chocolate evokes a feeling of celebration, and the melody that sounded on the first romantic date in life is excitement and awe.
Old anchors are very easy to use to rekindle a new passion. It is enough to start a conversation as naturally as possible on a topic related to them: about first love, preferences in relationships with women, the most vivid sexual emotions, etc.
Such a conversation allows not only to awaken pleasant emotions in the interlocutor, but also to create new associations. In which you yourself can become the main character if you use the adjustment technique.
In the business realm, NLP is just as useful, and the methods are just as simple and effective. Here, the most commonly used technique
Working with Beliefs
As an example, we can cite a technology that works flawlessly in grandfather communication, so flawlessly that shops and supermarkets have adopted it, arranging various promotions or introducing loyalty cards.
The technique is based on the fact that the human brain perceives everything in comparison. Even if the belief has been formed long enough and firmly, the momentary perception of information can be misleading.
Compared to 100 rubles, 500 seems like a big amount, and compared to 5000, it seems like a trifle.
That is why, if a person is first offered practically impossible and unprofitable conditions, and then voices an option with higher than the interlocutor expected, but much more acceptable than the first offer, then the person will agree much faster. In this way, very profitable contracts and successful transactions can be concluded.
Using NLP think about the future
Of course, NLP methods allow you to seriously influence the behavior of other people, but ethics and possible consequences are only the responsibility of the one who uses them.
Remember that by controlling a person against their will, you have control only during communication.
If the manipulations are too unpleasant and harsh, freed from your influence, in a calm environment, your interlocutor may be upset and offended. Therefore, it is worth using NLP methods only in order, as they say, to “melt the ice”, to make communication more effective and harmonious for mutual benefit.
