Until now, research on the effects of teas on blood pressure has been inconsistent. Scientists from the Australian University and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in China conducted five years of research on the effects of green and black teas on blood pressure. Over a thousand women and men from China were examined.

Does black tea lower blood pressure?

  1. Non-smokers who consumed a minimum of 10 g of green tea daily had significantly lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure compared to those who did not drink that amount of tea. Systolic blood pressure decreased only in people without abdominal obesity.

  3. Drinking black tea had no effect on blood pressure levels.

  5. In smokers, blood pressure remained the same in each group.

  7. No correlation was found in the change of systolic blood pressure in both groups (drinkers of any tea and non-tea drinkers at all).

What does drinking green tea affect?

Green tea has disappointed many people who believe that drinking it reduces body weight. However, as recent studies show, it compensates for a number of beneficial properties. In addition to the effect on blood pressure, it is worth mentioning that green tea:

  • can protect against the degradation of neurotransmitters related to the functioning of the brain, i.e. dopamine and epinephrineid = »h21 ″>. It also probably prevents the build-up of plaques in the brain that impair cognition. It is believed that this effect is due to the polyphenols contained in tea.

  • improves the condition of the skinid = »h21 ″>, protecting it from the harmful effects of UV radiation. It also increases blood flow and oxygen supply to the skin and improves its overall elasticity.
