On February 23, we will once again celebrate Defender of the Fatherland Day. Together with us, this holiday will be officially celebrated in Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
The celebration was established on January 27, 1922 in the Resolution of the Presidium of the All- Central Executive Committee of the RSFSR on the fourth anniversary of the Red Army. Since 1922, this date has become the Day of the Red Army. In 1946 it was renamed the Day of the Soviet Army. Since 1949, a new name has appeared – the Day of the Soviet Army and Navy.
In 1995, they began to celebrate Defender of the Fatherland Day, which to this day is the day of Our Country’s military glory. Although unofficially it is considered the main male holiday, it is rightfully celebrated by all the defenders of the Motherland, both male and female.
Until 2002, February 23 was a working day for most residents of the country, excluding military personnel. Since 2002, this day has become a public holiday.
You always need to prepare for the holiday in advance, so the day before the holiday is already half the holiday. Unfortunately, in 2023, February 22 will provisionally be considered a working daybecause it falls on a Thursday. True, the operating time will be reduced by an hour. And if the boss is accommodating, then it will be possible to take time off earlier.
