Good morning, I have been struggling with overweight for a long time. I gained weight after pregnancy and still can’t get into shape. I have tried many diets, but none of them brings beneficial results or the loss of kilograms is very small. A friend told me that drinking lemon water fasting helps you lose weight and is healthy.
Somehow I do not want to believe that it would be enough to get rid of unnecessary kilograms. Of course, the diet in this case is also important, but whether to drink water with lemon on an empty stomach does it really help? What are the benefits of drinking lemon water on an empty stomach? Or maybe there are negative effects and doctors do not recommend its use? I don’t know where to look for help anymore, so I tried to write here. Hopefully I will get the necessary answer as to whether fasting lemon water is healthy and whether drinking it helps you lose weight at all.

Madam, a glass of water with lemon consumed every morning, of course, will not make you lose weight. It is not a drink with exceptional weight loss properties. This does not mean, however, that it has no effect on our body and should not be drunk. Lemon contains many antioxidants, i.e. antioxidants, that protect against free radicals that have a negative impact on our health.

Free radicals can cause mutations in human (and not only) DNA, increasing the risk of developing oncological diseases. Some people argue that lemon protects against infections due to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects, but I am not convinced by this theory. Consuming lemon water in the morning certainly has a beneficial effect on our digestive tract. It stimulates peristalsis and the secretion of digestive enzymes.
Unfortunately, this is not for everyone. Lemon water should be avoided by people with reflux disease or active stomach ulcers, due to acidification of gastric juice and its excessive production, which can end in unpleasant ailments. Lemon is rich in vitamin C, which is involved in the production of collagen by our cells.
Collagen gives elasticity to the skin and blood vessels, among others, and builds articular cartilage, increasing their strength. As you can see, lemon water is worth consuming for its various health-promoting properties, but it should not be treated as a cure for overweight or obesity. Unfortunately, on the internet you can find a lot of contradictory or false information about losing weight. Many of them argue that you can achieve the desired weight without any effort.
