Acne usually affects young people, but it can also occur in the elderly, it is mainly associated with overactive sebaceous glands and keratosis of the hair follicles. It must not be forgotten, however, that the cause may also be Propionium acnes anaerobic bacteriaas a result, irritating to the skin, and their very presence causes the influx of inflammatory cells and the constant occurrence of skin inflammation.

Adapalene is recommended in the treatment of acne, with an effect similar to retinoids. It inhibits inflammatory processes, has a keratolytic effect, i.e. reduces keratosis. It prevents the formation of blackheads, the main skin lesion occurring in acne vulgaris, inhibits development of Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. When the preparation is applied topically to the skin, absorption into the blood is negligible or immeasurable. Side effects include dryness, irritation, erythema and burning sensation of the skin.
In the event of reddening or irritation of the skin, stop using the drug for a few days. Contraindications to use for hypersensitivity to the ingredients of the preparation, eczema, seborrheic dermatitis. Adapalene should not be used on damaged skin, around the eyes and mucous membranes. During treatment, you should avoid UV radiation by using creams with a high sunscreen. Cosmetics recommended for acne prone skin should not be used either, as they may enhance the side effects of Adapalene. Due to insufficient data, the drug should not be used during pregnancy.
