Consulting a medical problem with a doctor, using modern technologies, is still a problem for people who are not sure what the possibilities of telemedicine are. One such issue is whether or not you need to be referred to a specialist with whom we would like to talk. We decided not only to answer this question, but also to dispel any doubts about arranging an e-visit to the doctor.
Telemedicine – why is it worth using?
Telemedicine is a relatively recently introduced method of quick contact with a doctor without leaving home. Thanks to this, you do not have to wait in line for an appointment. In the case of patients with a weakened immune system, the risk of infection with bacteria and viruses is completely eliminated, because he does not have to leave the place of residence. To contact a doctor, you only need a working telephone or a computer with Internet access.

As part of telemedicine, it becomes possible to make a phone call, videoconference or chat with a doctor.
This is a good solution for people who do not like to talk to a specialist about their medical problems in person. Indirect contact via instant messaging will ensure their relative anonymity.
The benefits are also noticed by chronically ill patients who want to be sure that they will be able to make an appointment with a doctor at a convenient time, as well as receive an electronic prescription to buy another dose of their medications.

Do I need a referral to arrange an e-visit with a specialist?
You do not need a referral to arrange an e-visit with a specialist. Especially if we choose a paid consultation. The procedure is the same for making standard appointments without showing a referral from your GP.
If the patient wants a specialist to see him under the National Health Fund (NFZ), then a referral will be needed. There are also situations when we need a referral, despite the fact that a specialist will admit us privately.

E-referral – what is it?
An alternative to the traditional referral is an e-referral, which can be issued by any doctor. Thanks to this facility, the patient will not lose the card written out by the specialist, thus increasing the sense of security. To obtain an e-referral, create a trusted profile on the website of the National Health Fund or the Social Insurance Institution, and then the Internet Patient Account (IKP). If we do not have a remote application in which we can track the history of our visits, the doctor may print us an e-referral.
