Iris dwarf: varieties
Iris dwarf is a miniature copy of the usual bearded iris. They usually grow no more than 25 cm in height, and only some varieties reach 40 cm. But this does not spoil their appearance in the least. On the contrary, they look very harmonious in rockeries, ornamental plantings, in ordinary flower beds and along garden paths.
In the photo of a dwarf iris, you can not always see all its charm. The flowers are no less gorgeous than those of tall representatives.
Dwarf iris grows no more than 40 cm in length
They have their own advantages that attract gardeners:
- They grow quickly, begin to delight with their flowers already in the second year after planting;
- The flowering period starts 2 weeks earlier than regular irises. Differs in an abundance of flowers;
- After flowering, the bush retains its beauty thanks to its leaves, they can be used instead of deciduous ornamental plantings.
Less demanding to care, have good resistance to external factors. Feels better and thrives on fertile soil. They need additional soil fertilization.
When planting, it is worth considering the rapid growth of the bushes. Usually maintain a distance of 30 cm between plants and 50 cm between rows
But much depends on their purpose, they will decorate an alpine hill or rockery, a flower garden or a flower bed. In each case, the distance is selected individually for the needs of the gardener.
It is recommended to replant the plants every 4 years. Otherwise, they will soon lose their attractiveness, grow too much, and the leaves will shrink. Needs autumn pruning after flowering ends.
