Definition
Arccosine (arccos) is the inverse trigonometric function.
Arccosine x defined as the inverse of the cosine x, at -1≤x≤1.
If the cosine of the angle у is х (COS y = x), which means the arccosine x equals y:
arccos x = cos-1 x = y
Note: cos-1x means inverse cosine, not cosine to the power -1.
For example:
arccos 1 = cos-1 1 = 0° (0 work)
