Contrary to appearances, female intimate hygiene is not an easy matter. Taking care of these specific parts of the body can be difficult as a result of using public toilets, tight, tight clothes, inappropriate underwear and leading an unhealthy lifestyle. Every day, women are exposed to numerous inflammations, bacteria, infections and fungi. However, with a few simple, easy-to-follow tricks, these problems can be prevented. Check out the list of intimate rules that will help you avoid infection!
- Listen to your body – if you suddenly feel a slight itching, burning or pain, do not underestimate these sensations. Very often, such delicate, barely noticeable changes are the first symptoms of intimate zone diseases. The most common disease of this type is vaginal mycosis, so the best possible solution is to visit a gynecologist as soon as possible. However, if you are trying to self-medicate, first measure the vaginal pH (you can find the right meter in pharmacies) and only then choose the right treatment – depending on whether you are dealing with a fungal or viral infection. These types of infections often recur, so their thorough treatment is very important.
- Use proper hygiene of intimate places – never use ordinary soap or shower gel for washing, as they contain substances that dry the mucous membranes. They also often disturb the natural bacterial flora and contribute to the formation of irritation. Reach only for the right intimate hygiene fluids, preferably odorless, with a low pH below 4,5. When washing, remember to wash in the right direction – do it from front to back, not vice versa, as this can transfer bacteria from the anal area to the vagina. It is best to use a separate towel for intimate areas, so as not to carry bacteria from other parts of the body as well.
- Remember about safety during intercourse – it is important to properly moisturize the vagina, because too dry skin will be prone to irritation and abrasions, as well as having sex with a condom. The condom protects against all sexually transmitted diseases, prevents inflammation of the urinary tract and bladder, as well as the introduction of semen, which has a neutral reaction and therefore increases the pH in the vagina.
- Bet on cotton and comfort – although thongs and lace are considered sexy and feminine, remember to wear them only in special situations. The greatest ally of a healthy intimate area is cotton, because it does not overheat and is breathable. In addition to irritating and pressing intimate areas, thongs carry bacteria in the anal area towards the vagina. It is also important to avoid frequent wearing of tight pants that squeeze, chaf and block the free flow of air. You absolutely should not sleep in your underwear. The healthiest is sleeping naked, but if pajamas are a necessity for you, choose the most airy and loose ones.
- Limit the consumption of sweets – sugar definitely increases the risk of fungal infections. The most harmful are simple sugars, i.e. those found in cookies, fruit juices, sweet drinks and sweets. They are an ideal breeding ground for the yeast that causes fungal diseases.
