International acupuncture congress

“From tradition to science”

Quebec Order of Acupuncturists

The first international acupuncture congress was held from April 4 to 6, 2003 in Trois-Rivières, under the aegis of the Ordre des acupuncteurs du Québec.

About twenty conferences were on the program. Over 250 acupuncturists from Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia, China, Cuba, France and Switzerland attended.

Under the theme “From tradition to science”, the event had the objectives of opening a dialogue with other health professionals and publicizing what acupuncture is able to offer.

The presence of speakers from Asia raised concerns about atypical pneumonia. The event’s organizers, however, affirmed that all necessary precautions had been taken.
