A large designer chandelier is undoubtedly a bright and colorful piece of furniture that will leave few people indifferent. The chandelier draws a lot of attention to itself, sets the tone and mood for the whole room, giving it a certain chic and aristocracy. However, you will not feel any of this if you hang such beauty in a small room. The room will seem even smaller, cramped, and the chandelier will eat up the space. It is better to use complex light compositions around the entire perimeter of the room, this will expand the room and adjust its shape.
It is not recommended to use wallpaper in a large drawing in small apartments. And all because such walls once again focus on the not very advantageous size of the room. For small spaces, plain wallpaper or with a small, not very contrasting pattern is best suited. Warm tones visually bring objects closer, and cold ones, on the contrary, move them away, so the use of light cold shades would be ideal.
A large antique chest of drawers undoubtedly looks beautiful and chic, but in a small apartment its advantages can become disadvantages. Hanging furniture will be an excellent solution for small spaces – shelves, cabinets, tables fixed on the walls and do not have support legs. This will add lightness and air to the interior.
The color of textiles, furniture and walls plays an important, if not key role in the interior, and when choosing dark, saturated shades, you should consider that they will visually absorb light. Agree, a small dark room ceases to be cozy and light. Give preference to fresher shades, transparent materials.
Forget about multi-colored paint, laminate flooring and several types of carpets in the rooms. In the interiors of small apartments, large contrasts that cut the eyes should be avoided. Choose one neutral color for the entire apartment, without transitions to other rooms.
Beautiful curtains made of expensive quality fabrics are a great addition to the interior for large spaces where you can admire them from afar, but, unfortunately, they are completely unsuitable for small rooms. Such curtains will take on a lot of attention and narrow the space. Replace heavy curtains with light tulle or translucent curtains in light shades.
Do you want to divide a small apartment into zones using partitions? This is an excellent design option for studios, but by no means a small one-room apartment. Partitions will only cut the space, add bustle and crampedness. If you really want to have your own corner, divide the room with furniture. This will keep its functionality.
This is a mistake from the same opera as the wallpaper with a large pattern. You need to admire large paintings from afar, then they really decorate the space. The dimensions of a modest room will not allow you to do this and will reduce it even more. Instead of giant canvases, try composing with small, simple frames of photographs or paintings.
It is easy to overload a small apartment with furniture and accessories, so it is better to limit yourself to a few bright details or use neutral decor, which will be a continuation of the overall design of the project. The ideal option is not just jewelry that collects dust, but beautiful objects endowed with useful functionality.
Dark solid doors will carve the space, delineating the boundaries of a small room. Therefore, in a small apartment, it is better to use compact sliding doors or refuse them altogether, leaving the doorway empty.
