Interior for a small bathroom: tips

With this method of arrangement, there is a lot of space in front of the washbasin and toilet. However, when choosing a shower stall, difficulties can arise. Make sure that the doors open in a position that will not block the passage to the sink. By the way, the walls of the room can become the side rails of the shower room. This will allow equipping one of them with a shallow niche for bath accessories. In this case, you can refuse from inconvenient hinged shelves.

Upon entering the room, you can immediately see the shower. It is better to choose a structure with a transparent wall. This detail is important. If the gaze rested on frosted glass, the space would seem smaller. With such a layout, it is advisable to make a custom-made booth. The ideal model is with one wall and a tray, which is made flush with the floor, using an internal drain to drain the water. It is better that all pieces of furniture have strict geometric lines and maximum simplicity. There should be no baskets, open shelves and carved handles.

Successful planning is only part of the story. It is important to choose the right plumbing. The principle “the more expensive the better” does not work in this case. Although a very cheap mixer (for 500-700 rubles) can break down immediately after installation. There are a few things to consider when shopping for bathroom accessories.

Toilet

When choosing a model, pay attention to the type of connection to the sewer. It can be horizontal, vertical and oblique. The latter is most often found in Khrushchev, horizontal – in new buildings, vertical – in stalinkas. It will be difficult to install a toilet with an inappropriate drainage direction. Look under the bezel. Are there holes? It is wonderful. Here is a plumbing with a circular drainage system, thanks to which the entire bowl is rinsed. Horizontal drainage of water occurs only from the rear side and does not reach the front wall. By the way, many toilets are equipped with a dual-mode flushing mechanism. In economy mode, half of the water volume is discharged; in full draining mode, the entire tank is emptied. With the ever-increasing water prices, a dual-mode toilet is the best choice.

Pay attention to the material. The seller can persuade to choose not budget faience, but more expensive porcelain – “less porous, easy to clean and does not absorb odors.” It is true that porcelain is more durable, but it is worth considering that earthenware toilets are covered with glaze, which gives the product the same properties. Therefore, there is no point in overpaying. Just look at the surface quality. Do not take plumbing if it has an uneven color or has a “mesh”.

Bath

The most budgetary option is a steel bathtub. It retains heat poorly and rattles, and cannot be repaired. Surfaces that have been scratched or damaged by household chemicals cannot be restored. But there is also a plus – low weight, and therefore installation and transportation will not cause trouble. Want to save money? Install a steel tub by bricking it over. It will not rumble, and it will be able to keep warm for a long time. The brick is not difficult to hide with a decorative screen.

The acrylic bathtub is warm, lightweight, and is also subject to polishing. The price is influenced by the form – the more complex it is, the more expensive the model. Smell before buying – acrylic does not smell. If you smell a pungent aroma, then plastic is in front of you. Pay attention to the cut, its thickness (look at the side) must be at least 6 mm.

A cast iron bath can last up to 30 years. Of the minuses – a simple shape, a limited size range. Another drawback is the heavy weight. In addition, pores appear on the coating over time, the bath becomes rough. And all because the material does not tolerate the effects of abrasive agents.

Mixer

Single-lever mixers are more convenient. They are also more affordable. Models with two fit perfectly into retro-style interiors.

The heavier the mixer, the more reliable it is. The high weight ensures that the body of the model is brass and therefore durable. It is important that the eccentrics (fixing the mixer to the pipes) are made of brass. Pay attention to the wall thickness of the nuts. It is good if the mixer is equipped with a shower hose with a “double lock” system. It will serve for a long time and will not unravel. Checking the “double lock” is simple – you need to fold the hose in half and squeeze it as much as possible. If nothing happens to it, the product is reliable. At the factory, these hoses are tested by hanging a 50 kg load on them for 24 hours.
