Installing a gas boiler in a private house, apartment, in the country is not an easy task. It is not enough just to buy it – you need to get all the permissions and collect documents for installation. You should also follow the placement guidelines. In the article you will learn where and how to install the boiler, what rules to follow when operating it.
Norms and rules for installing a heating boiler
Not every room is suitable for placing gas equipment. In private homes, it is necessary to adhere to the rules of SNiP 31-02-2001. In an apartment building, the requirements of SNiP 2.08.01 apply. However, you need to start with the preparation of documents and obtaining permits.
What are the steps to go through:
- Application to GORGAZ with a statement indicating the calculations of consumed gas for heating and hot water supply (DHW) in accordance with SNiP 31-02, clause 9.1.3. The average figures for one apartment are taken:
- Gas stove – 0,5 m³ / day;
- DHW – 0,5 m³ / day;
- Heating 7-12 m³.
- The application is being considered. If everything is in order, the service draws up a document with technical specifications and regulation of all work. Without this, the installation will be considered illegal. The next step is to contact a licensed service to draw up a project based on technical recommendations.
Who should install the boiler? Ideally – gas service. Therefore, the finished project and other documentation are sent there. What else needs to be added:
- Documents for equipment;
- Instructions;
- Certificates of technical and sanitary-hygienic condition;
- The result of the examination, which confirms compliance with the requirements.
It is important to act in accordance with GOST and observe safety measures, so installation is not possible in an unsuitable room. Some try to place the boiler in the garage, basement, bathroom. But let’s find out what rules must be followed.
Last judgment
The room where the installation is to be installed must be well ventilated. Which place would be suitable:
- First, ground floor;
- Basement;
- Annex;
- Attic;
- Kitchen – if the power of the equipment is not more than 35 kW.
Note that there are two standards for mounting in the kitchen. Their conditions are slightly different, so check with the master which one he adhered to. In the first case, it is allowed to use units with a power of no more than 35 kW, in the second – no more than 60 kW.
- Boilers with a capacity of 150 kW can be located on the first, basement, basement floor;
- With a power of 151-350 kW, the same provisions apply, but placement in an extension is also allowed.
Kitchen
If you have chosen a place in the kitchen, check with the following standards:
- Room volume from 15 m³. For every kilowatt of power, 1 m³ relies;
- Ceiling height from 2,5 meters.
Need to be taken seriously creating ventilation with your own hands:
- Productive hood. The parameters are calculated according to three times the volume of the room. For single-circuit and double-circuit boilers with an open chamber, a constant supply of combustion air is required;
- The presence of a window with a window leaf with a total area of 0,8 m² and a glass thickness of 2 mm, 1 m² – 4 mm, 1,5 m² – 5 mm;
- Door clearance from the floor – from 0,025 m².
Important point! If the room is connected to the next one so that there is no door between them, then you will not be allowed to put the boiler. The solution can be the installation of roller shutters, sliding or glass doors.
Separate room
The equipment can be installed in a separate boiler room if the following conditions are met:
- Height from floor to ceiling 2,5 meters;
- Area from 15 m³;
- The walls must be made of non-combustible material: concrete, brick, blocks;
- Rules regarding the hood are similar to those described above;
- Glazing area from 0,03 m².
In the case of using equipment with a power of 150 kW, there must be a door made of fire-resistant material leading to the street or to a utility room with an emergency exit.
Annex
No place to place a heating boiler in the house? Then add an extension. The requirements are the same as described above. In addition, the developer must take into account the following points:
- In frame, brick and other types of houses, the extension should be located near a solid wall. The material of the walls must be non-combustible – brick, shell rock;
- A foundation independent of the house is cast, only the walls are connected.
The extension must be registered, otherwise you will not be able to conduct gas there. Of course, the premises must comply with all standards, otherwise the responsible authorities may not issue a permit.
What should be provided before outdoor installation:
- Doorway width from 0,8 meters;
- Solid floor made of non-combustible materials;
- For overall floor boilers there must be an additional foundation;
- Conducting water supply and sewerage;
- Availability of wiring and sockets;
- Chimney arrangement.
If the extension is erected from wood, then you need to make a reliable refractory lining.
Chimney installation
Independent installation of the chimney is also carried out according to the rules of SNiP. The device should be located as close as possible to the outlet. Make sure ventilation is working properly.
The chimney and ventilation ducts must be separate.
A ventilation hole is made outside at the bottom of the wall. Steel and corrugated pipes are used to connect the body to the chimney outlet. All connections are sealed with sealant.
To ensure normal traction for the equipment, observe the height of the pipe:
- Flat roof – pipe elevation of at least 50 cm;
- Pitched – from 150 cm.
- Pitched (distance from the roof ridge 300 cm) – the height is not lower than the ridge.
- Pitched more than 300 cm from the ridge – installation is carried out at an angle of 10 degrees from the roof ridge.
Placement
In apartments, equipment is installed in the kitchen – everything you need is there. Placement in other rooms of the house or apartment is not justified. The bathroom has no windows and no proper ventilation. The same applies to the pantry with a corridor.
The procedure and scheme for installing attachments
When buying equipment – Ariston, Bosch, Proterm, etc. – check the presence of all fasteners, connecting elements. Before installation, it is better to rinse the structure. To do this, dismantle the plugs and drive the flow of water through the system.
Prepare the tools:
- Level;
- Screwdriwer set;
- Passatizhi;
- Screwdriver;
- Cleaning filter – optional.
Prepare a place for a wall-mounted boiler.
- Under the body should not be furniture, foreign objects;
- Wooden walls are sheathed with heat-resistant sheets with a thickness of 0,3 cm;
- The distance from the body to the wall is from 4,5 cm;
- The distance from the side walls is 10 cm for non-combustible materials, for combustible materials – 25 cm.
Before hanging, mark the fasteners for the mounting plate to which the case will be attached. Distance from the floor: 0,8-1,6 meters.
The installation of a chimney depends on the type of equipment. For turbocharged, with a closed combustion chamber, a coaxial chimney connection is required. This is a pipe that consists of two channels: air enters one, combustion products are discharged from the other. The pipe is connected to the boiler nozzle.
When installing pipes, consider the location of the filter. It protects the system from clogging, simplifies operation. There are stopcocks near the filter – with the help of them you can shut off the water without draining it and clean the element. Remove the plugs from the pipes and connect the water hoses.
It is better to entrust the connection to the gas pipe to a specialist. It is not recommended to carry out such work yourself.
Installation of a floor boiler
Floor-standing gas appliances – for example, Buderus, AOGV, Navien, Baxi – have large dimensions and power. A solid reinforced concrete foundation is being built under them.
If the floor is wooden, you need to lay out brickwork, tiles and put an asbestos sheet on top. The wall is protected in the same way. Then the structure is mounted in a designated place, a chimney pipe is connected, and a connection to the heating system is made. Electric gas boilers require a grounded outlet.
Upon completion of the work, the gas inspection arrives, checks whether everything is correct, supplies gas. After that, the device can be operated.
Installation can be carried out independently. But the creation of the project should be entrusted to specialists with a license. The supply of gas to the system is also performed by the gas service. This is a condition for the safety of you and your neighbors.
