A nebulizer is a medical device designed for inhalation. Its use is allowed even for the treatment of rhinitis in newborn children, but as prescribed by a doctor. The principle of inhalation with a nebulizer is to spray small dispersed particles of medicinal solutions, due to which the medicine is distributed in the respiratory tract much faster than with other methods of treatment.
Types of nebulizers
Compressor nebulizer consists of a chamber and a compressor connected by a tube for air circulation, thanks to which medicinal solutions are sprayed using a powerful air stream. One of the disadvantages of compressor devices is the strong noise they emit during operation.
Ultrasonic nebulizer converts medicine into an aerosol using ultrasonic waves. They are practically silent during operation, which allows them to be used in the treatment of children’s respiratory diseases. But they cannot be used in the treatment of antibacterial and mucolytic drugs.
Mesh nebulizers have the highest value. Their work is based on the transformation of the drug into small particles thanks to a special membrane. Mesh nebulizers are absolutely silent, they are compact and do not take up much space.
