The most common disease of the eyelids is inflammation of their edges, usually associated with conjunctivitis.

symptoms

They are very characteristic: the edge of the eyelid is red, scales form at the base of the eyelashes, and sometimes small ulcers.

The eyelashes fall out and there are scars at the edge of the eyelid. The patient feels itching, burning, sometimes there is photophobia and tearing.

The cause of the disease may be infection with common purulent bacteria or yeast-like fungi, usually transmitted to the eyelids through dirty hands, a handkerchief, a towel. Currently, the inflammation of the eyelid margins is more and more often caused by allergy to various plant and animal dusts or it is caused by toxic substances in the environment. Patients with diabetes mellitus and people with refractive errors with uneven eyeglass lenses are particularly prone to inflammation of the eyelid margins. Often, blepharitis is found in schoolchildren who do not wear the necessary corrective lenses.

Barley internal

There are glands in the eyelid discs, the openings of which are visible at the edge of the eyelid. The most common disease of these glands is internal barley, usually caused by purulent bacteria – staphylococci.

Symptoms of the disease include redness, swelling and great soreness in the part of the eyelid where the inflamed gland is located.

It collects purulent contents, which can spontaneously break through the skin outside or through the shield – towards the inner part of the eyelid. In general, inflammation will go away on its own after a few days. However, there are complications in the form of eyelid abscess or even orbital inflammation.

Outside barley

External barley is called purulent inflammation of the eyelash follicle and the associated hair glands.

symptoms

They are less intense than with internal barley, and the purulent content flows out along the lash.

In the treatment of inflammation of the edges of the eyelids and eyelid glands, specialist cosmetics will be helpful, such as PRODEX NORMAL wipes for normal skin or PRODEX NORMAL liquid for normal skin, which perfectly cleanse the skin, and are safe and gentle at the same time.

Treatment

An effective remedy are warming compresses applied to closed eyelids twice a day for 2 minutes. Eye drops or ointments with sulfonamides or antibiotics are administered to the conjunctival sac. Medicines containing corticosteroids must not be used. When the barley is large and the symptoms are more severe, consult an ophthalmologist for advice.

A hailstorm

It is a common chronic disease of the thyroid gland caused by the stagnation of the sebaceous secretion of the gland.

symptoms

There is a little painful thickening of the eyelid disc, bulging under the skin or – from the inside – under the conjunctiva. Sometimes internal barley turns into a gradówka.

Treatment

If, after treatment, such as in cases of barley, the chalazion does not go away, it should be removed surgically. It is a minor procedure performed on an outpatient basis in outpatient clinics and ophthalmic hospitals.

You can buy a chalazion removal procedure, performed at a specialized Eyemed ophthalmological clinic, without waiting in queues at medonetmarket.pl.
