Infertility is a word that many women fear. At a doctor’s appointment, this diagnosis sounds like a verdict for most patients. And the IVF procedure does not always seem to be a way out of the situation and sometimes frightens even more.
Marina, who underwent an in vitro fertilization program at the Mother and Child – IDK clinic in Samara, shared her experience.
– What was your first reaction to the diagnosis of infertility?
Marina: “Our couple was not given this diagnosis for a long time. Different doctors advised different things, but the pregnancy never came … We have already resigned ourselves to all the diagnoses. They did not frighten us. To be honest, we’re just tired of waiting. We really wanted a child. And we needed a positive result. “
– Did you easily decide on the IVF program?
M: “Very easy! I went to a fertility specialist in Ulyanovsk, and she recommended IVF to me for the first time. She even said that there is a state program for the compulsory medical insurance policy. When I left her office, I already knew that we would do it! My husband and I are light on our feet. I came home, told him, and he immediately supported me. So they decided – in one day. In July I visited my doctor, and in November I arrived in Samara for an IVF procedure ”.
– What were the difficulties in preparing for IVF under compulsory medical insurance? How long did you wait for directions?
M: “The main thing is to follow the instructions and pass all the tests on the list on time. It was not difficult for me. I know how to work with papers and am not ashamed to ask doctors about everything that I do not understand. So everything happened quickly enough and without any problems. “
– What scared you the most about IVF? What fears were confirmed?
M: “The most frightening thing was the unknown, not knowing how the procedure was going. And I was also very afraid of anesthesia, but it turned out that in vain. “
– What was the most difficult thing during the IVF program physically, emotionally?
M: “For me, the most difficult thing was finding one in another city. My husband could only come to me sometimes. Physically, there were slight inconveniences with hormonal stimulation. The tests, which were carried out in a huge number, were a little uncomfortable. I do not tolerate these procedures very well. But you get used to it too. “
– What helped you set yourself up for success?
M: “I came to Samara with the idea that I would leave pregnant. I had a clear goal. The main thing is to believe! And think only of the good. I live by the principle: if you really want it, you will definitely succeed! “
– What advice would you give to those who are just thinking about IVF?
M: “Don’t be afraid of anything and act! After all, if you sit still, no one will do it for you. And the opportunity to give birth to a healthy baby is worth any risk! I wish you all courage, patience and two stripes on the dough! “
Obstetrician-gynecologist (reproductologist) clinic “Mother and Child – IDK” Sinitsyna Anastasia Igorevna told how the reception is going.
“At the reception, patients and I spend a lot of time talking. In my opinion, most often people are afraid of the unknown. It is very important for partners to receive complete information about the IVF program in order to understand what and how will happen to them. The experience of other couples who have already gone through IVF is also interesting for them. Of course, such information is difficult to obtain, because it is not customary to talk about this topic in society. Therefore, thanks to Marina for sharing her experience. I am sure it will be of interest to many who are just going to a fertility specialist or planning IVF. I want to join her wishes! Have a nice week everyone! Have you noticed that it is getting brighter outside the window? Spring is just around the corner! “
