November is behind us. Hopefully it was the worst month of the fourth wave of coronavirus in Poland and now the bars for infections and deaths will start to decline. What exactly is the epidemiological balance of November?

November is behind us. December started with record numbers of infections and deaths in the current wave. And what was the whole previous month like?
On the first day of November, the Ministry of Health informed about 4. 894 coronavirus infections. There were 13 deaths then. On the last day of the month, we already had 19 thousand. 74 COVID-19 cases and 526 fatalities.

Up to a certain point, the current fourth wave of coronavirus that began at the end of the summer holidays resembled the one from a year ago. In September, the statistics were very similar to those of 2020. For example, on September 22, 2020, 711 coronavirus infections were reported, a day later – 974. And on September 21 this year, we had 711 new cases, two days later – 974.
In October, the charts began to diverge, and in the second decade of this month last year, the number of cases began to rise sharply. It took about four weeks to peak, on November 7 to be exact. Then it came to 27 thousand. 875 infections, it was a second wave record. Then the bars started to diminish.

The current wave is much slower, increases have been throughout November, according to experts’ forecasts, the figures for COVID-19 infections are expected to start to decline at the beginning of December.
In total, in November 2020, 605 fell ill. 885 people, or 91 thousand. more than today. Nobody had been vaccinated at that time, the first vaccines were given in our country at the end of December.
However, surprisingly, last month there were two days with more infections than the record of the second wave – on November 24 and 25, the health ministry informed about over 28 thousand. COVID-19 infections. The first day of December turned out to be even worse – 29 fell ill. 64 people.

A derivative of the infection chart is the coronavirus fatalities chart. In this case, the trends observed in November 2020 and November 2021 look similar. However, they differ in values. A year ago, 11 thousand died in the entire analyzed month. 521 people, i.e. almost 5 thousand. more than in the recently completed one.

As you can see, the difference in deaths is more pronounced than it is in the case of the disease.
The third wave was the worst
The second wave of the pandemic in Poland lasted five months – from September to January. The third began three months after the second peak. It was much more violent – shorter duration, but took a similar toll.
