Individual approach: choosing sunglasses according to the shape of your face

The choice of sunglasses is not easy, if only because the most suitable model directly depends on the shape of the face. Woman’s Day will tell you how to make the right decision with your purchase.

If you have a round face with a rounded chin, then the main task of the glasses is to stretch your face. In addition, it will not be superfluous to emphasize the eyes: with the right choice of accessory, they will appear larger. Angular, rectangular or square glasses with wide temples will suit you. The angular pointed shape of the glasses will help to stretch the face, directing the gaze to the temple and enlarging the eyes. Square glasses balance the soft, rounded lines of the face by sharpening the upper part.

Pay attention also to the colored spectacle lenses and frames with a transparent bridge on the bridge of the nose; all these little tricks distract attention from the face as a whole, focusing the eyes of others on one detail and stretching the face.

Attention: do not use round glasses – they will only emphasize the natural roundness of your face.

Owners of an oval face are lucky: it is considered ideal and is characterized by narrow harmonious features combined with high cheekbones. The main task of the glasses in this case is to maintain the harmonious proportions of the face. You have a wide range of models in your arsenal and you can choose almost any, but the most advantageous face will look in bow-tie glasses, rectangular or “cat” glasses. They emphasize high cheekbones and do not distract attention from the proportions of the face, which do not require correction.

Attention: too massive or wide glasses – not your format: against the background of such models, facial features will look too small. The width of the frame should be approximately equal to the widest part of your face, and the top line of the frame should line up with the line of your eyebrows.

With angular lines and a long face, the chosen glasses should soften and smooth the corners, as well as visually reduce the face. The good news is that almost any frame will work for you, but keep in mind the main thing: glasses should not be too small, this will further stretch the face. Try oval, rectangular, square or aviator glasses. Experiment with a gradient spray to accentuate the eyes.

Attention: rimless glasses, as well as too small glasses, are not your element, since their purpose is to stretch your face.

This face shape is characterized by angularity, a strong protruding jaw, a square chin and a wide forehead. The right glasses should smooth out the angular lines of the jaw and lengthen the face. This effect can be achieved with the help of oval, round glasses and glasses – “aviators”: they just soften the line of the chin, and in addition, emphasize the eyes and lengthen the nose somewhat. “Cat” glasses will also accentuate the eyes, which is necessary in your case. Opt for dark or colored frames and notice the low bridge on the bridge of the nose: all this will round and soften the sharp contour of the face.

Attention: Beware of square and rectangular glasses – they will only aggravate the angularity of the face.

If you have an elongated, oblong face with a square chin and a relatively strong jaw, then your face shape is a rectangle. The task of the glasses in this case is to shorten the face and smooth out the angular lines. Square spectacle frames will do a great job with this: they will visually shorten the face. In addition, frames with a low bridge on the bridge of the nose will allow you to shape your face more refined.

Attention: forget about small glasses – they will lengthen the face even more.

The owners of a diamond-shaped face can be proud of themselves: this is the rarest face shape. Most likely, you have a narrow forehead and chin combined with prominent wide cheekbones. We advise you to choose glasses that can draw attention to the upper part of the face and especially to the eyes in order to expand them and balance the overall picture. Take a closer look at the rounded shapes of the accessory: “aviators” or “cat” glasses will look perfect. Try to choose frames with a heavy top or no bottom rim at all. Pay attention to the line of the eyebrows: it should be emphasized with glasses.

Attention: Choose square models carefully, they are quite capable of balancing the proportions of your face, but here the individual factor plays a big role.

A heart-shaped face is often called a triangular face: it has a wide forehead and tapers smoothly towards a small, rounded chin. The glasses should balance the upper and lower parts of the face, draw attention away from the forehead line and focus on the lower part. Your option – glasses-bow ties and “cat” glasses, which can balance the face. Do not give up on round frames either: they will help to reduce and soften an overly wide forehead. In this case, the frame should be as inconspicuous as possible: for example, thin metallic or muted colors.

Attention: Don’t go for heavy bulky glasses with lots of details and embellishments – the upper face shouldn’t be the center of attention.

Face – “inverted triangle”

The inverted triangle face is characterized by a narrow forehead and an extension towards the cheeks and chin. In this case, glasses are required to draw attention to the upper part of the face and eyes, hiding a wide chin. Choose between glasses with a wider top: geometric, aviator or cat glasses. Accentuate the top of the spectacle frame: be it jewelry, extra thickness, half frame or vibrant color. This focuses the attention on the upper third of the face, balancing its proportions.

Attention: You can try oval glasses, but be careful – they are not suitable for everyone.
