A large number of sources report that the birthplace of Roma is India. In 327 BC. e. Alexander the Great made a trip to Indian lands, from where he brought rum to European countries. After Europe, the whole world learned about the drink. Today, rum from India is not as common as from Cuba or the Dominican Republic, but, nevertheless, the Old Monk brand can be called popular.

Distinctive features of the Indian drink are a more delicate taste with a noticeable sweetness and a soft aftertaste. A fragrance with an oriental character, it reveals citrus and spicy notes of cloves and cardamom, as well as dark chocolate and molasses.

Old Monk

Produced by Mohan Meakin. The name translates as “old monk”. This is a quality dark rum made in the traditional way. Exposure is 7 years. Only original spirits are used, some of them reach the age of 50 and are used in limited editions.

The taste of Old Monk rum is exceptional and the bottles are handcrafted.

Sweet aroma combines caramel, chocolate, peach and vanilla notes. The taste cannot be distinguished by sweetness, but it is quite soft, despite the strength of 42,8%.

Rum is stored in oak barrels, hence the roasted coffee beans, spice and vanilla on the palate.

The color is rich, a mixture of brown and black. The drink is thick in texture.

Steel Drum

Rum produced by the IOWA Distilling Company is made from cane sugar and Barbados molasses.

Then aged in American white oak barrels for a year.

Before being in the bottle, the drink goes through a filtration stage. Only natural ingredients are used.

White American oak gives the drink a caramel color and a delicate taste, in the tropical aftertaste of which hints of dried pineapple, papaya and apricot are revealed.

Dark rum shows oaky tones, while white rum is fresher.

Alcohol content 43%. Makes a great addition to grog or punch. Can be served neat by adding ice to a glass.

Elvis

Premium rum, which is aged in oak barrels for five years. One of the main ingredients is sugar cane, crushed to a pulp. Then it is filtered, left to ferment, boiled and sent for distillation using classical methods.

To achieve the required alcohol content, water is added to the cane, there are no other ingredients. The final fortress is 42,8%.

To remove the smallest grains, impurities that provoke a hangover, and to achieve perfect transparency of the product, it is re-filtered before bottling in containers.

The texture of alcohol is velvety, the fortress is not felt, so it is easy to drink. Intense caramel aroma. The taste is harmonious, with bitterness, set off by sweetness. Dark is best served in its pure form, cooled to 10–14 ° C, and white is added to a cocktail.

Amrut

Amrut is famous for its single malt whiskey, but its rum is just as good.

  1. Two Indies

    It is a mix of Caribbean and East Indian culture. Alcohols are supplied from Guyana, Jamaica and Barbados. The sugar in the composition is Indian, called Jaggery, it is extracted from date palms and reeds.

    Hence the bright fruity character of the drink, symbolizing the merging of the West and East Indies. The aroma is caramel, but when the drink is decanted, musky, pistachio and woody notes will be revealed.

    The taste is dominated by almond and banana. The color is golden.

  2. Old Port Deluxe

    Produced from exclusively Indian molasses, filtered through charcoal in two stages. It is aged in imported barrels where whiskey was once.

    The taste is rather fruity and spicy, nutty and woody shades are relatively muted. Amber color. The fortress of both is 42,8%.

    They will become an excellent digestif, an independent drink with an ice cube. Suitable for cocktails.
