Defective start protection relay

The relay is part of the motor-compressor. When turned on, it starts the compressor and the chambers begin to cool. When turned off, the motor stops “to rest”. If the relay sticks in one position or fails, the temperature in the chambers will rise, because the motor will not start.

For what reasons does the relay break:

The terminals and contacts burn during a power surge.
Moisture gets on the parts.
Incorrect connection leads to short circuit and combustion of the element.

What to do:

Clean up contacts.
Check the correct connection and the tightness of the wiring connection.

Freezer not freezing

We wrote more about this problem in the article “The freezer does not work.” Here we describe common problems that need to be addressed.

In the latest Indesit models, a No Frost defrost system is installed. This means that frost does not form on the walls, and the equipment does not need frequent defrosting. However, some notice that ice is freezing on the back wall.

Here’s what users are complaining about:

Freezer does not cool food. You can hear the compressor running, but the temperature in the compartment does not decrease. You need to check the temperature controller. It may have been set to the wrong value, or it may have failed. Also inspect the door seal and diagnose the circuit for refrigerant leaks.
The engine starts for a few seconds and then turns off. Freeze doesn’t work. The causes of the malfunction could be: a start relay, burnt wiring, or a failure in the electronic board. You need to contact the service center.
Ice on the walls. Thermal relays are set to high values. The capillary piping may be clogged, so the refrigerant cannot circulate normally.

Fan does not work

Fans in refrigerators with No Frost drive cold air, evenly distributing it throughout the chamber. They can stop their work for the following reasons:

There is ice on the blades, so they do not rotate. Fridge needs to be defrosted.
The connection between the main module and the fan is broken. Inspection of wiring and replacement of faulty elements.
Motor burned out. A complete replacement is required.

To check the performance of the fan wiring is connected to the operating voltage. If it spins, everything is fine.

The heating element in the chamber does not work

Such a malfunction can be indicated by the code F07 in electronic models and by the flashing of three indicators on electromechanical ones. Do not immediately replace the element and take the error literally. If the camera does not defrost, you need to check the wiring, the quality of the connection, and only then, in case of a malfunction, change the parts.

To diagnose and replace the heating element, proceed as follows:

Remove all drawers from the compartment.
Remove the back wall, behind which are the heating element and the evaporator.
To check the defrost timer, short its contacts with a wire. If it works, then everything is in order.
Measure the relay contacts with a multimeter. If the tester beeps, the relay is working.

Compressor problems

It happens that the compressor does not work or, on the contrary, constantly works.

If the refrigerator does not turn on and does not start, the mains cable is checked first. If at the same time you hear that it clicks somewhere, you need to check the motor. Clicks are emitted by the relay in an attempt to start the engine.

When the equipment does not turn off and does not cool, this indicates motor wear. It lacks the power to pressurize and cool. Therefore, it does not turn off, because the system is trying to reach the set temperature. So that it does not completely break down, diagnose and repair it.

Refrigerant leak

Most often, a breakdown occurs in two-chamber models with a lower freezer. The condensate that drains from the upper chamber drips onto the freezer body. Underneath is a refrigerant circuit. Due to corrosion, the tubes of the circuit are destroyed, the freon gas begins to leak.

What signs indicate a problem:

Ice builds up on the walls and evaporator.
The refrigerator does not freeze well or does not cool at all.
The back wall is swollen.
The compressor shuts down for only 5-10 seconds, trying to reach the set temperature.

The troubleshooting methods are simple: call the wizard. This work can be done independently by a specialist with the equipment. It is necessary: to find damage, to eliminate the leak, to refuel the system with freon.

The body is shocked

Touching the case and getting a small discharge? The use of such equipment is prohibited. Disconnect it from the mains and check the insulation of the wiring, power cord. Large appliances must be connected to a grounded socket.

Found a bare wire? Do not isolate it, it is better to completely replace it.

Light bulb not on

When the light bulb gets very hot or burns out, you can do the replacement yourself:

Loosen the cover screw. Take it off.
Unscrew the light bulb and put in a new one at 15 watts.
Replace the cover.

It’s worth checking the switch. When the door is closed, the light should turn off. If this does not happen, then the switch is repaired.

Refrigerator makes noise, buzzes, crackles

After installation, the equipment began to buzz? Check that the housing is level. It should be installed with a tilt back a couple of degrees. To do this, adjust the front legs.

Do you hear a crackling noise while working? This is possible when freezing is turned on: the thawed plastic is deformed by the temperature difference. This is not a breakdown if the device cracked from the first days after purchase.

The unit is leaking, water under the fruit boxes

In models with drip defrost, the drain hole is clogged. Moisture from the walls should go down the drain, but instead flows down the compartment.

The hole is easy to clean with a thin wire. Cover all foods to prevent crumbs and small particles from entering the drain hole.

Indicators on the panel do not light up

In such cases, the control board is diagnosed, the contacts from the module to the panel are checked.

Unpleasant odors

There is an unpleasant smell in the department, although the temperature is normal. You need to defrost and clean the unit.

Disconnect it from the network.
Remove all food and leave to defrost for at least a day.
Wipe the walls and shelves with a solution of water and lemon juice. Close the doors for half an hour.
Wipe the contents with a dry cloth and load the products.
