About the study:
The report is based on data on salaries received by 12 IT professionals. The median salary is an indicator above and below which the same number of specialists earn. By “IT people”, the authors of the study mean everyone involved in the creation of IT products: developers, designers, testers, managers, as well as marketers, HR specialists, and so on.
Salaries by country: who increased income and who stands still
- According to the results of the Habr Career study, the median salary of an IT specialist in our country in the first half of 2022 was ₽140 thousand. This figure has not changed since the end of 2021. This happened for the first time in almost five years, the authors of the report note.
- The level of earnings of programmers in St. Petersburg has also not changed – there IT specialists on average receive ₽150 thousand. But in Moscow and the regions, salaries increased by 3 and 4% – ₽180 thousand and ₽120 thousand, respectively. This indicator increased the most in Krasnoyarsk (+33%), Volgograd (+25%) and Perm (+20%). Wage reductions occurred only in Kazan (-3%) and Chelyabinsk (-9%).
- Among all IT professions, the incomes of content specialists grew the most (+10%) — in the first half of 2022 they earned ₽88 thousand. Salaries of analysts and sales specialists increased by 7% and amounted to ₽139 thousand and ₽80 thousand . respectively. Managers, designers and HR remained at the same level. The level of wages decreased for marketers (-13%) and support specialists (-19%), although last year this segment grew the most in terms of wages.
- Objective-C remained the highest paid programming language (₽250). It is followed by Elixir and Golang. But Python and C lost in price – 7% and 6%, respectively.
- Skyeng and Avito with a median of ₽2022 were the leaders in wages for IT specialists among Russian companies in the first half of 250. Mail.ru Group closes the top three — programmers there earn an average of ₽231.
- Freelancers’ income fell by 29% compared to the last half of the year and amounted to ₽80 thousand.
Who earns the most in each segment
The authors of the Habr study also analyzed in detail the median salaries of representatives of the most common professions in each IT segment. Here are the most successful specialists in the first half of 2022:
Analytics – systems analysts and data scientists. Their average income was ₽150 thousand.
Design – UX/UI designers. They earn on average ₽100 thousand.
Quality – quality assurance managers. Their median salary was ₽220 thousand.
Exploitation – DevOps engineers with an average salary ₽200 thousand.
- HR – expected to earn the most personnel director. Their average income was ₽150 thousand.
- Marketing — marketing director with median salary ₽155 thousand.
- Directors, products and projects — technical directorswhose average income was ₽320 thousand.
- Development – software architects. They earn on average ₽285 thousand.
