In the first days and weeks of pregnancy, the belly pulls, does the belly pull in the first month
Often in expectant mothers in the first weeks of pregnancy, the stomach pulls. In some cases, this is completely natural, but in the presence of certain symptoms it becomes a reason to see a doctor.
Why does the stomach pull in the first month of pregnancy?
A pulling sensation, reminiscent of premenstrual syndrome, is one of the natural signs of egg fertilization. It moves along the fallopian tubes and is fixed on the wall of the uterus, and hormonal changes begin in the woman’s body – it is this process that provokes unpleasant sensations.
But there are other reasons why the stomach pulls in the first month after conception:
- long-term use of contraceptives before pregnancy;
- inflammatory process in the genitourinary system;
- gastrointestinal disorders associated with changes in hormonal levels;
- disorders in the endocrine system;
- risk of miscarriage;
- ectopic pregnancy.
The threat of spontaneous abortion and ectopic pregnancy are phenomena that pose a serious danger to the health of the expectant mother. In these cases, pulling sensations in the lower abdomen are always accompanied by other characteristic signs: acute cramping pains, bloody discharge and even loss of consciousness. If these symptoms appear, you should immediately go to the hospital.
What to do if the stomach pulls in the first weeks of pregnancy?
If you experience unpleasant sensations, you should not ask your friends and look on the Internet for an answer to the question of whether your stomach is pulling in the first days of pregnancy. The first thing to do is see a gynecologist. It is better to make sure in advance of the normal development of the fetus and to protect your health.
Even if the pulling sensations are not too strong, they can be the result of a malfunction in the endocrine system. In this case, the body actively produces the hormone progesterone, which causes frequent contraction of the walls of the uterus, which can lead to miscarriage.
In the first weeks of pregnancy, it is better to discuss any discomfort with your doctor. To determine if there is a threat to the embryo, the doctor will conduct an examination, ultrasound and tonusometry – an assessment of the tone of the uterus. If there are no violations, and the pulling pains are caused by the increased tone of the walls of the uterus, the woman is prescribed safe drugs to relieve muscle tension. Do not postpone a visit to the doctor, because the health of the unborn baby depends on the timely measures taken.
