PSYchology
“Throw out every third word. This will give the text amazing liveliness.”
Mark Twain

This article will be short.

Our century is the century of rapid and short communications.

Podcasts instead of radio and TV shows.

Microblogging and social media posts instead of articles.

Voice messages in WhatsApp/TG instead of calls.

Skype calls instead of face-to-face meetings.

Master classes instead of full-day trainings.

Time has become too valuable a resource.

Ergo. Do you want to be heard?

Write shorter.

Speak briefly.

What for?

  • Save time (your own and those around you).
  • You learn to formulate your thoughts concisely, concisely, to the point.
  • You form the image of a business person, there is more respect for your every word.

Say so, as if your every word is written in a book, you cannot edit it! That’s how you say the first time, so it will remain in eternity. Discipline, right?

Write so, as if this is not a business letter to the boss, but an article in a federal publication, and for it you will remain in the memory of generations.

Algorithm:

  • What do you want from a person? What is the result of communication?
  • What is important to say, and what can you do without?
  • Check again: which words do not carry a semantic load, what can be removed?

Play — try to say «tweets» (posts on Twitter): a hard limit on signs — the main idea must be put in 280 characters.

After a while, an internal counter will appear.

Instead of calling, use WhatsApp/TG voice messages — duration maximum 30 seconds. If there is a lot of information, break it into several segments, each with its own thesis.

Important:

For men and women, the “strictness” of compliance is different, let’s say so.

An overly laconic style in communication for a woman may be inappropriate.

Similarly, these rules are more applicable to the business format. In a personal format, excessive self-control can be misinterpreted as an unwillingness to communicate.

Many are sure that the longer they speak, the smarter they seem.

I will answer with a quote: “I need a week to prepare a 10-minute speech; for 15 minutes — three days; for half an hour — two days; and I can give an hour’s speech even now. — Thomas Woodrow Wilson.

The following Distance exercises will support you:

  • I speak in theses
  • Notation of intent
  • Listening skills
  • Repeat-agree-add
  • prepared question
  • We remove chatter and emptiness
  • Speech instruction

Briefly speaking! Even shorter!
